How to Change Ownership of Airpods Before Changing Hands?

How to change ownership of AirPods?

Since your AirPods are most likely to be linked to an iCloud account, it is essential to disassociate the device from your Apple ID before changing ownership. To transfer the ownership of AirPods successfully, follow the steps given below:

  • Open the Settings app on your iPad or iPhone that is connected to the AirPods
  • Access your Apple ID settings by tapping on your name at the top of the device screen
  • Search and click on ‘the ‘Find My’ option
  • Choose the ‘Find My iPhone’ option to access the settings concerning your iPad or iPhone
  • Scroll down to find the list of devices associated with your Apple ID
  • Search for your AirPods and click on it
  • Select the ‘Remove This Device’ option to dissociate the AirPods from your Apple ID
  • Hit ‘Remove’ to confirm your choice

Once you have disconnected the AirPods from your Apple ID, you need to reset them to factory settings. To do that:

  • Place the AirPods in their charging case but keep the cover open
  • Press the small setup button at the back of the case
  • Hold the button until the LED light at the front starts flashing white
  • The LED light flashing indicates that the AirPods can now be paired with another device
  • The AirPods can be paired with another device by following the standard setup process
  • The new device must be Bluetooth enabled during the pairing process
  • The AirPods need to be placed with the case opened near the new device
  • The user needs to follow the on-screen instruction to pair the AirPods with the iPhone or iPad
