How to Beat Netflix’s Drive to Crack Down Password Sharing

It is only a matter of months that you may not be able to share Netflix with others. Earlier this month, the company announced that a crackdown on account sharing will come to the USA soon. In Canada, Netflix has already made paying for extra account users applicable. However, there is still a way to get around this new rule.

Netflix says

Netflix says, “A Netflix account is meant to be shared in one household (people who live in the same location with the account owner). People who are not in your household will need to sign up for their own account to watch Netflix.”

How Netflix plans to track?

Netflix’s way of determining the same is to note your household internet’s IP address. They would track or capture the IP address when you log in after taking the subscription or from where you use Netflix the most.

When you choose to use Netflix outside of your house like in a hotel room, you would be prompted to enter a verification code sent to the account owner.  If you are the primary account owner then there is no issue complying. However, if you are not then you must be a bit creative.

How to continue with account sharing?

When you want to use somebody else’s Netflix account, you need to ask for the verification code from the account owner. Assuming that the primary account owner is your friend or family, it should not be a problem to get the same. It is better to let them know in advance to watch out for the verification code if you are planning on account sharing.

The same is applicable if you are the primary account owner and somebody else seeks permission to use the account. The only issue is that whoever is the account owner needs to share the verification code with other users every time they are sent.  However, at least a little inconvenience is expected if you plan on sharing costs for the subscription or allowing others to use the account.
