A new rumour suggests the forthcoming iPhone 13 series will flaunt improved ultra-wide and telephoto cameras. Two Barclays analysts Blayne Curtis and Thomas O’Malley shared with MacRumors a note to investors that claims all four iPhone 13 versions will receive an Ultra-Wide camera with a wider f/1.8 aperture.
Enhanced Low-Light Performance
The current iPhone 12 phones feature an f/2.4 aperture. The new Ultra-Wide camera would allow light to seamlessly pass through the lens. This will immediately result in better low-light performance. The Barclays note also claims that the iPhone 13 Pro might also get the Pro Max’s better telephoto camera, improving the 12 Pro’s f/2.0, 52mm focal length equivalent camera to the f/2.2, 65mm focal length equivalent camera that the iPhone 12 Pro Max had.

Improved Telephoto Clarity
In short, this would drastically improve the smartphone’s telephoto clarity, going from 2x optical zoom to 2.5x optical zoom. Barclays also claimed that the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s upgraded Telephoto lens will expand to the standard iPhone 13 Pro. the new series is said to have ultra-wide camera with a 65mm focal length and ƒ/2.2 aperture, a move that is expected to benefit chipmaker Cirrus Logic.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, in an investor note with TF International Securities, had earlier claimed that the Ultra-Wide lens will be upgraded to an ƒ/1.8 aperture, but will only be made available for iPhone 13 Pro models. Thus, there is still not clear information as to exactly how many models will get the new lens upgrade. Kuo stated the upgraded Ultra-Wide lens will expand to the rest of the flagship iPhone line-up in the second half of 2022.
The report from MacRumours also hints that the upgrades may not be as aggressive as previously thought. However, they will still be quite interesting. Also, the iPhone series will have same display sizes and camera setups for the iPhone 13 line-up, including 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch models. they will also come with dual-lens cameras and 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch models will sport triple-lens cameras.
