Reports
WABetaInfo reports that WhatsApp is rolling out a feature to forward high-quality videos and enhancements within group chats for profile icons. The update can be accessed by a few beta testers via WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.13.0.76.
Added tag
Upon sending a picture, a tag is added to the message bubble that highlights the photo being high-quality. Some WhatsApp users observed that the same tag is being added to videos as well.
Quality
It has also been noticed that the high-quality option for pictures preserves photo dimensions but a light compression is applied to the video. Thus, users cannot share videos retaining the original quality. Moreover, the default option is “Standard quality” as always for both photos and videos. To share improved-quality videos or photos, users need to choose the high-quality option.
WABetaInfo says
WABetaInfo reported, “When users share a video using the high-quality option, it will be marked as a high-quality video in the conversation, and a new tag is automatically added to the message bubble, as shown in the attached screenshot.”

Sending HD videos through WhatsApp on Android
Android users shall see an HD button at the top of the box to forward the video. When they press the button, two options would be given: standard quality and HD quality. People can choose accordingly. The description on WhatsApp for Android reads “HD quality is clearer. Standard quality uses less storage space and is faster to send,” when sending the content.
