Why WhatsApp Is Not Safe – New WhatsApp Policy

According to the new notification, WhatsApp is working to update its terms and privacy policy and it is mandatory for the users to accept the terms and conditions in order to keep their WhatsApp account information. The most used messaging app will further share all personal data with Facebook as Facebook is the parent company. The new change has created a stir amongst users as people have now become sceptical about giving their information in the hands of the social media giant.

The Main Concern

Online privacy has become a major concern in recent years. Browsing habits are now being used to provide advertising content, thus challenging the privacy of an app user. Also, personal data is a very valuable commodity, particularly in a marketing context. It can be used to alter an individual’s perspective and market everything that s/he likes to achieve business growth. The main concern why people are leaving WhatsApp is user privacy. Many people fear Facebook will use and exploit the personal details of WhatsApp user accounts in connection with data from the social network. WhatsApp does not only collect phone number of its users, but they currently possess the telephone details of millions of people that are not associated with the service at all. This is because WhatsApp copies its users telephone directory. By agreeing with the new user terms, every user will be allowing WhatsApp this right.
