Apple Shall ‘Loop You In’ With The Latest iPad

Apple Shall ‘Loop You In’ With The Latest iPadThe rumour mill churned up a new bit of information — Apple is about to introduce a successor to the iPad Air 2 at its next press conference on March 21, 2016. The invitation for the conference had a cryptic message “let’s loop you in”. According to sources on the internet, the newest iPad Air would come with a price hike of $599 as compared to the older entry-level price of $499. But the 9.7 inch iPad would have 32 GB of storage, which is more than the 16 GB that iPad Air 2 offered.

The need for a more expensive iPad may have stemmed from the fact that there will be no iPad Air 3. The new iPad Air would be something like a smaller version of the iPad Pro that supports the accessories and is faster than its predecessor.

This also means that the Apple Pencil, which currently is compatible only with iPad pro, will work well on this latest gadget. Apple’s Smart Keyboard is also most likely to be compatible with it.

When iPad Pro was launched, there was no side update for the iPad Air. This latest iPad shall come with some upgrades like multitasking and split-view, which are otherwise not available on the iPad Air 2.

The new iPad shall start with 32 GB space along with the more expensive options that come with LTE and 128GB of storage. The company will most likely keep the old iPad Air 2 in the market, though it is not known if it’ll enjoy a price cut or not as of now.

It is a small wonder that Apple is choosing to raise the price on the mainstream iPad, despite the fact that iPad sales went down by 25 percent, year over year. In retrospect, Apple did not update the iPad Air, which might be one of the reasons behind the shifty sales numbers.  But then Apple does not believe in sharing sales prices from a given line of products too often.

It looks like Apple is trying to shift the iPad away from the ‘it’s just a bigger iPhone with a similar version of iOS’ notion that has been developed over the years. The iPad, iPhone with iOS 9 and the iPad Pro along with the latest accessories are supposed to be very different products, each with its own ecosphere. The iPad has generally been doing well as a more capable device and Apple is going to want to capitalize on these differences that the devices offer. The latest iPad Pro is like a statement in itself, a statement that predicts iPads as the future of computers.

Music Streaming Becomes The Next Big Thing

Music Streaming Becomes The Next Big ThingStreaming music has become the new age equivalent of a radio, with services like Spotify, Pandora Internet radio, Jango and more taking up the top favourite positions. According to a US-based market research firm, almost 68 percent of smartphone owners in USA choose live music streaming as their preferred source of everyday music.

This research, released by Parks Associates, has highlighted and reaffirmed the mobility of music fans in today’s age and time. Approximately 45 minutes of music is streamed everyday, making it a significant number when seen collectively.

Another aspect of this research compared the change in rankings with regard to the popularity of music subscription services between mobile broadband and fixed-line broadband. Further, the research also showed that Amazon Prime Music is the most popular paid music subscription service among US broadband households while iPhone users consumed more media as compared to Android users.

Looking at the carriers, it has been found that Sprint and T-Mobile customers held the highest numbers of daily music consumption at a 75 percent subscriber rate, as compared to the 66 percent of Verizon subscribers.

With these research findings in place, let’s look at the future of music streaming and how it will affect us:

  1. Big entertainment companies will consolidate their offers and services to create a multi-platform, blended music space and smaller payers will either have to join hands or be pushed out completely.
  2. Because the music streaming subscription libraries are highly commoditized, companies are focusing on ways to sell it further- by working very hard to improve the sound quality and enhance user experience. This means that your favorite songs will sound better.
  3. Music subscriptions will enjoy loads of revenue, with labels seeing the most notable rise.
  4. Ad supported free music services are not doing so well, which means that music shall gradually shift away from being “free.” Of course, there will always be a place on the internet for it, but there will be increased pressure on music lovers to pay up for quality sound.

5 iOS Games Of 2015 You Cannot Overlook

CrossyRoadiOS_1The market is flooded with gaming apps and millions of titles abound. There are tons of games competing with one another even within specific genres. So many, that it’s difficult to find a good game sometimes, unless one becomes a total sensation (read: the likes of Angry Birds or Clash Of Clans).

As we near the end of 2015, it’s a good time to look back at some of the more noteworthy gaming apps we’ve been at this year. Many of them have been easy to overlook with the unending roulette of apps. We look at five gaming apps that got a dedicated audience and deserve a mention:

1. Crossy Road

This was one of the hottest app games of the summer and was designed by Hipster Whale. They specialise in a sort of retro approach to new-age arcade games. The company also put out Pac-Man 256, an endless maze version of the ordinary Pac-Man. With these two titles, they’re starting to be one of the more renowned developers.

Crossy Road itself is like a Frogger-inspired take on the age-old question, “why did the chicken cross the road?” That means you’re hopping across busy highway lanes as a pixel-drawn chicken so it’s endless fun.

2. Agar.io

Miniclip has had a hit on its hands for a while with Agar.io that has been a popular browser-based Internet game for a while. But it’s also suited to play as an app because it works just fine with a touchscreen and makes use of Wi-Fi connectivity to connect with other users.

For those unfamiliar with the app or original browser game, you’re tasked with controlling a blob of space. You can think of yourself as a virus looking to consumer others’ blobs to increase your own reach. There’s a bit more to it than that, but you essentially want to keep growing and expanding at the expense of others while avoiding bigger players who could be a threat to you. It’s a combination between a challenging puzzle and an everyday time waster, and a must-have for any regular app gamer.

3. Avengers Alliance

Plenty of fans have complained over the years about Marvel’s lack of a strong presence in current generation consoles, and it’s a fair argument. But the entertainment giant has always been competitive online, and this game feels like an extension of that success.

Marvel Heroes 2015 has become one of the more impressive MMO options online, and Gala Casino’s selection of online casino games offers a satisfying variety of Marvel characters. Games like these exemplify the best of Marvel gaming—Heroes being a massive world RPG, and the casino games roping in most of the popular Avengers with their own titles.

Avengers Alliance, too, excels by compiling numerous Marvel heroes, and that alone makes it worth a look. The game functions as something of a character collector and RPG aggregate, and is actually a converted Facebook game made for iOS. There’s a plot—collecting a substance called ISO-8 before Dr. Doom and Loki can get it all—but the real fun is in collecting your favourite heroes and taking them into battles.

4. Soda Dungeon

If you’re looking for console-quality graphics that are taking over a lot of major smartphone games these days, this probably isn’t for you. If you, on the other hand, prefer a more old-school arcade experience like what Crossy Road has to offer, you should find Soda Dungeon just as delightful as I have.

It’s a character-collecting brawler in which you can gain new players to enact and then take them on various quests. You attract new characters by upgrading and maintaining a bizarre, dungeon-esque soda bar.

Also, and it’s very tame in case the kids want to play. The whole thing is presented in a perfect pixelated world, just crude enough to look old without being a pain to use.

5. A Blind Legend

This one takes a little getting used to, and it certainly isn’t for everyone. But if you’re the type who likes to really focus on app games rather than fiddle with them once in a while, A Blind Legend might be worth a look. That’s because this is a game designed with no visuals, instead employing the use of surround sound audio to describe your setting and force you into action. Basically, you’re a knight on a quest with your daughter guiding the way, avoiding traps and acting out an adventure entirely by sound and touch.

Apple n Apps described it as “trying to become visionary” (somewhat ironically) in that this game holds the potential to create its own category. It’s not a perfect experience, but it’s certainly different. It’s also good, immersive fun.… Read the rest

Individual performance will also be judged on basis of ratings given by team members and other subordinates in the team. Google and Facebook have been using this tactic of employee evaluation since long and though details are always kept secret, yet some information does come in the public preview.

The urge to control the attrition rate might be one of the reasons that Infosys is resorting to such practices. In the second quarter that ended in September, Infosys showed an attrition rate of 20 percent while its rival Wipro had an attrition rate close to around 17 percent.
