How to fix the Android problem parsing the package error?

There are several different possible things that you can do to fix the Android parse error. You can try any of these, and then see if the error is fixed. If in case one method doesn’t yield any result, you can move on to the next.

1. The simplest and the most obvious thing to do is to update your Android. Maybe the app you are trying to install is compatible with the latest version of Android. If the current version of Android is not compatible with the app it will continuously show the parse error.

The worst-case scenario is that you may have to buy a new phone cause your old phone may not support the new version of Android at all.

2. The next possible reason could be that you have disabled the permission to install apps from third-party sources. If you trust the source of the app, enable permission to install apps from third-party sources. This option is turned off by default.

Try to disable albeit temporarily, the security options on your phone – If you trust the source of the app that you are trying to install, then you can try to install it once after you have disabled all the security features. The security features of your phone may be incorrectly be considering the app as a threat due to which the app may be facing problems in installation.

5. Try to download and reinstall the .apk file again – As mentioned above the app file could be incomplete or corrupt. To fix this, you could go back to the website and try to download the original .apk file again.

6. For more advanced users, one of the possible solutions could be to restore the modified manifest file. A parse error could occur due to the changes made to the Androidmanifest.xml file which is contained in the .apk file. You can try to restore the file to its original form. And then retry to install the .apk file.

7. If nothing else works you can try to rest your Android phone to factory settings. This method is a bit tricky cause it will erase all your data. This is the hail mary option which means it should be used only when you have unsuccessfully tried every other option. Once you rest it, update the Android device to the latest version and then try to reinstall the app.
