Meta is finally rolling out the verified program for Instagram and Facebook users in India. The paid subscription model comes with several additional features like a direct line of support, enhanced account security, etc. along with the mandatory blue tick.
Pricing
Meta Verified could cost in the range of Rs. 699 per month for both Facebook and Instagram on Android and iOS. The company has plans to launch a web-only plan for Rs. 599 a month. People need to give any of their government IDs as proof to get verified.
Process
To get started with the process of verification, open the Facebook or Instagram app on your device. Click on Settings and then go to Accounts Center. You need to choose the Meta Verified option. To see the option, ensure that the app is updated to the latest version.
The next step is to sort out the payment method. After that, the app would ask for government ID proof. Once you submit the same and Meta authenticates the information, a blue tick would appear on your Facebook and Instagram accounts if you have both or the one you applied for.
Terms and conditions for getting verified
People who are 18 years of age or older are considered to get verified. Meta would also check the users’ posting history before granting them a blue tick. Most importantly, the name on the government ID should match the name you use for Facebook and Instagram.
For celebrities and public accounts, eligibility and individual requirements must be met and accordingly, the traditional badges can be retained. However, in the future, the verification process is supposed to become uniform for everybody.
