Meta Launches Meta Verified Paid Subscriptions for Facebook and Instagram Users

Meta introduced a ‘blue tick’ verification system called ‘Meta Verified’. It is a paid subscription for Facebook and Instagram users. People need to use their government ID to verify their accounts and receive a blue badge. This would especially help content creators to grow and build communities. The verification badge would appear beside the profile name of the user.

Benefits

A verified badge gives a sense of authenticity to the profile. Moreover, people can contact the support team immediately when needed. Other benefits of the paid subscription include increased visibility, availability of digital currency to be used to tip Facebook creators, and 100 free stars. Exclusive stickers are also accessible to users to use in Reels and Stories.

Eligibility for getting the blue tick

The minimum age requirement to get the blue tick is 18 years and the person should have a previous history of posting on the platform. It means the user must have an accomplished profile. The government ID submitted should clearly match the Facebook profile photo and name of the user. There is no requirement as far as having followers is concerned. It is not available for business profiles.

Availability in India

There is no information about its availability in India but users are expected to be able to use paid services in the coming weeks.

Changing username after being verified

People who want to change username, date of birth, profile name or photo, must resubscribe to verify the account.

For already verified account

Accounts that are already verified would remain as it is. It is to be noted that if a person is one platform such as Facebook but not on the other that is Instagram, he has to apply for the badge from his Instagram account separately. He can link his Instagram profile to his verified Facebook account to show authenticity.
