Good news for all Photoshop addicts! Photoshop has finally launched ‘Invite to Edit’ function for easy collaboration. The new function of Photoshop for easy remote collaboration will allow users to remotely edit the files of co-workers and friends. This feature will work n desktop, iPad, and iPhone as well.

The new Photoshop for easy remote collaboration by Adobe will make it easier for multiple people to work on the same file in Photoshop, Illustrator, or Fresco. It is a very welcome first step towards more powerful remote editing tools. All the three apps have been upgraded with this ‘Invite to Edit’ feature, which will work effectively with .PSD and .AI files saved to Adobe’s cloud. It also supports version history to enable users to reverse course if a collaborator jumbles something up.

How Will ‘Invite to Edit’ Function Work?

The function is pretty simple to use. If someone is already editing the file, the new user will have the choice of either making a copy of the same file or can wait until the current editor is finished. It’s not quite Google Docs-style editing for Photoshop, which means that collaborators will not be able to work on the file live alongside you, but they will be able to open up your work, make changes of their own, save it, and have those changes sync back to your system.

How to Use Photoshop for Easy Remote Collaboration?

To use new ‘invite to edit’:

  • Update Photoshop to the latest version 22.2.
  • Here, you will see an option on the top right-hand corner of the app next to the search magnifying glass.
  • If you want someone to make changes to the existing file, click that button and type in the email addresses of everyone you want to invite to the file.

Remember, this function will only work with cloud-based files. In case you have a non-cloud document, it is then imperative to save it as a cloud by going to ‘save as cloud document’.

Adobe has been adding new features to enable the photo editing to be an easier process. According to the company, it started working on Photoshop for easy remote collaboration function last year itself.  It has also been steadily building more collaboration features into Creative Cloud to make the platform quick, simple, and reliable enough that teams can count on it to move their documents around.
