The quest and outcome

Approch
Google continues to take a more restrained approach than its competitors. For instance, it did not include a chatbot as it is prone to give out wrong information. The AI shall offer answers that would be corroborated by official, authorized, and genuine websites. The company shall include ads along with responses.
Cause of delay
A Google Search vice president, Liz Reid, said in an earlier interview that people wanted the company to offer high-quality information and Google did not want to disappoint. She said, “The technology is early.” She added, “It’s amazing in some ways and it has a bunch of challenges in other ways.”
Expansion
During the conference, Google informed people that access to Bard, its chatbot, has been expanded to 180 countries and territories in English. Support for Korean and Japanese languages is also available. Mr. Pichai also mentioned about Google’s effort to create a more powerful AI technology. He even unveiled the latest version of that technology called Pathways Language Model 2 (PaLM 2). He said work began on Gemini which is an even larger model.
Ms. Reid said Google’s huge number of users was “the chorus we should listen to the loudest.” It was a response to criticism by tech industry insiders about Google’s slow movement in improving its search results. She said further, “There is still huge opportunity in the world in meeting people’s information needs and there will always be lots of people trying to solve it, and I think that’s great. It will help us — help everyone — evolve.”
