Whisper API and ChatGPT by OpenAI are being offered to developers at a huge discount. The president and co-founder of OpenAI said that they can offer ChatGPT at 10% of the price of the flagship model. Thus, developers are getting a whopping 90% discount.

OpenAI says that Quizlet, Snap Inc, Shop, Instacart, and Speak are some of the companies that are already using ChatGPT AI in their products. The ChatGPI API is based on the gpt-3.5-turbo model. It is 90% cheaper compared to the existing GPT-3.5 models. It can be used for non-chat functions as well with minimal code adjustment.

The new ChatAPI would cost $ 0.002 for every 1000 tokens. OpenAI promises the developers the gpt-3.5-turbo stable model with the choice to opt for a specific version like gpt-3.5-turbo-0301. This would be supported until 1st June 2023.
Whisper API is a speech-to-text model. It is based on the large-v2 model with on-demand access support. It is priced at $ 0.006 per minute. Developers can get Whisper API in translations or transcriptions. It also accepts different formats like mp3, m4a, mp4, mpga, mpeg, webm, and wav.
What to expect?
To make things easier for the developers, OpenAI has made several changes in Whisper API and ChatGPT API. Moreover, OpenAI would not even use the data submitted through API to develop the model unless the developers choose to opt-in or allow it to happen.
