WhatsApp Will Stop Working on following iPhones, Do you Have One of Them

After October 24, 2022, WhatsApp will probably stop working on iPhone 5C and iPhone 5. Same as any brand or product, when new models launch in the market, older ones lose their importance. So is the case with iPhone 5C and iPhone 5. Even before the launch of the iPhone 14 on September 7, users of iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C need to look for an upgraded version of the iPhone or may have to find an alternative for WhatsApp.

According to the reports from WABetaInfo, the Reason for this brutal decision is that the company wants to promote new functionality of iPhones, which is not possible to operate on older models of iPhones. Consequently, WhatsApp is planning to remove the support for iOS 11, IOS 10, iOS 5C, and iOS 5 in the coming months.

WABetaInfo stated, “Unfortunately, due to some internal reasons, WhatsApp is now really planning to drop the support for certain iOS versions over the coming months: we are talking about iOS 10 and iOS 11!.” There was a screenshot in the report, which says “Update to the latest version of iOS to continue using WhatsApp. WhatsApp will stop supporting this version of iOS after 24 Oct 2022.”

On the FAQ page of WhatsApp, they have informed about the current devices they support and the recommendations of devices. These are the Newer iPhone running iOS 12, Android running OS 4.1, and newer JioPhone, JioPhone 2, and newer, KaiOS 2.5.0. Whatsapp added, “Before we stop supporting your operating system, you’ll be notified directly in WhatsApp ahead of time and reminded a few times to upgrade.”

So, if users wish to upgrade to the latest iOS version, they can do it via Settings > General > Software Update. In short “It means you can continue using WhatsApp on iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6S, but you need to update your iOS version. Unfortunately, WhatsApp will no longer be compatible with iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C since iOS 12 is not available for these devices,” WhatsApp added.
