WhatsApp is reportedly working on a feature to hide phone numbers over business chats. The Meta-owned platform is not yet available to beta users yet.
- If this feature sees the light, then you can hide or show your numbers with a business of choice. This might become a later day version for WhatsApp’s Desktop beta.
- The facility is now under development. In an effort to quash the competition from channels such as Telegram and even Signal, WhatsApp is planning to rollout some interesting features from tine to tine.
- The facilities could not only improve overall user experience but will also enhance the security aspect and privacy elements.
The inner workings
Businesses can view your number when you approach them by the ‘Click to WhatsApp’ advertisements. You may click on ‘Chat info’ and go down to ‘Phone number sharing’ part. Turn the same off or on.
What Is on offer?
While the beta version will be out for desktops first, Android too will see the same post launch. However, there isn’t an official word in terms of timeline. There is also talk that WhatsApp is testing phone number hiding feature from specific groups under Communities.
