Uber Security Systems Hacked; Hacker Makes Claim with Hashtag

Uber has gone on saying that it’s investigating one specific “cybersecurity incident” amid reports that its internal systems saw a breach. An alleged hacker, apparently just 18 years old, says that they now possess administrator access on the company tools. This includes access to Amazon Web Services as well as the Google Cloud Platform. As per New York Times report, Uber has taken many more internal systems, such as Slack offline during the investigation.

When contacted to comment from Verge, Uber’s spokesperson has declined from making any comments. He added, “We are currently responding to a cybersecurity incident. We are in touch with law enforcement and will post additional updates here as they become available,” the statement reads.

An unnamed employee told a security engineer from Yuga Labs, Sam Curry that its staff were talking with the hacker when they had thought someone was making a joke.
