Bad news for those planning to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 on the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 all by themselves. It doesn’t come with a single player mode. However, the zombie and multiplayer modes will be supported on these last gen consoles.
A post on the Call Of Duty website notes, “The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player coop Campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware.”
Criticism pours in
This announcement comes too late in the day because pre-orders have already begun as people from all over the globe want to own the latest Call of Duty.
Critics have been panning the makers for such a delayed announcement. Some have even called their behavior indifferent to the consumers. They believe that simply putting up old Black Ops for download is lax and too light headed to please avid gamers.
There is a consolation
In order to make up for this lag, the game will come $10 cheaper than its original price, Activison confirmed. In addition, it will put up the maiden series Call of Duty: Black Ops for digital download on last generation consoles.
The PS3 and the Xbox 360 versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will now be available for about $49.99. For some regions, this includes cost of the additional download as well.
With Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare scheduled for May 4 release, Activison has already come up with a trailer. The homepage of Call of Duty has been aptly designed keeping in view the latest release. A distorted image much likely of a soldier along with a countdown timer which reveals the May 4th pointer is the highlight of the homepage.
Interestingly, the May 4th concept of Call of Duty has been designed by Sledgehammer Games. This is the same team which had successfully designed the 2011 Modern Warfare 3 along with Infinity Ward.
This time around, Sledgehammer Games has decided to take the plunge alone and is expecting to put up a good show. On its part, Activision too has decided to give three players a chance in framing the Call of Duty series. Sledgehammer, Black Ops creator Treyarch and Infinity Ward would be vying with each other in future to design and put through Call of Duty series.
The series which goes by the name of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare has been set in coming future. The high tech warfare laden series will witness Kevin Spacey take on multiple challenges, even as he emerges victorious in this single player campaign.
Keep watching this space as more interesting revelations will be coming soon.
Hopes are high on the release of the latest version of Grand Theft Auto. According to Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia, GTA 5 should be able to outsell Call of Duty 2013 by selling 18 million copies in the first six months.
Bhatia has based his estimates using a “hypothetical probability model” by integrating information such as 250 staffers working on the game for five years. He also estimates that Rockstar would have pumped in about $137.5 million towards the development of this game. The analyst suggests that if Rockstar is able to sell a mimimum of 15 million copies and not spend heavily on marketing, they could generate $193.6 million in sales. At the same time, he predicts the makers will be able to ship 18 million copies following first 6 months of the GTA 5 release.
Rockstar has said that they have delayed launch of the game to seek more time for development.… Read the rest
Activision’s latest outing on the Call of Duty series promises to be a toughie to beat with its innovative settings and enhanced game play. It has also tried to reduce its errors from last time to offer a more qualitative product…
Treyarch and Activision’s FPS venture, ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ is still pitching forward with a distinct edge over its close rival, 343 Industries’ Halo 4. With the figures ending October 20 mentioning it to be the highest grosser, the game has really improved in leaps and bounds. Unlike the Microsoft team which has relied heavily on its marketing team to push it forward, the Call of Duty series has relied on its sheer ingenuity.
They have always worked with set formulae but backed it with a superior engine which plays out at 60 frames per second as compared to 30 frames in other contemporary games. And as game director David Vonderhaar confirms that they have improved upon this as well and enhanced it with superior graphics and lighting effects as well. Of course, the multiplayer details and game play trailer would validate this as well. They have gone ahead and even picked up the future scenario with its set of modern weaponry which will give it the necessary twist.
The game has also enhanced its multiplayer abilities with newer possibilities of coops being possible across various diverse regions as well. This feature is an addition to the Black Ops 2 and if you have a good internet connection then you can play across the board from anyone in any country. Previous versions only allowed gamers from a particular region to be playing alongside with no connection whatsoever to other gamers.
And if you are still not convinced, then trust Treyarch to throw some freebies to spice up the bargain. Pre-order users get their hands on a premium Elite subscription besides the NukeTown 2025 Bonus Map. Treyarch even titillated audiences with a preview trailer of NukeTown as well. Gamers would also get to have access to the Double XP Launch Weekend as well. Coming to the DLC, Black Ops II Season Pass (on Steam) is also available at a price of 49.99$ which provides you with 4 Epic DLC Map Packs including the famous Zombies playable content and multiplayer combat options as well. The Maps may separately cost you 14.99$ a piece which would be at least 10$ more than the saver pack. They will be released across the year 2013.
Also, in case you want a grip extender, then do try the new range from KontrolFreek which has released the FPS Havoc which can improve your game play and also offer the cool look to your controls as well. It comes at a price of 13.99$ but is useful for a wide variety of games as well. The latest edition of Call of Duty is priced at 59.99$ for the pre-order version with a release date of November 13, 2012. Activision has come out with its final launch trailer and now the battle remains only between Black Ops II and Halo 4 on being the most successful game of Fall 2012.… Read the rest
Activision has maintained its tradition of offering a fine FPS game with its latest release, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 which exhibited its launch trailer. Will it redefine its genre? One finds out…
October is turning out to be the month of guns and glory. Even as gamers are going about in their usual ways totting them at their favorite villains, comes in the new launch trailer of ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 2’. Activision’s yearly installment has come out with its final show just before the actual launch of the game which would be released on November 13, 2012.
Set in the year 2025, the game brings to light a new world where the world is redefined by the advent of technology. And the chief antagonist uses the unmanned weapons created by America against itself. It is a distinct possibility considering the spurt in weapons race among nations. The game has had a steady progress of information regarding the various multiplayer coops and its enhanced weapons arsenal, maintaining its tempo regarding the launch and the launch trailer, the final stroke from Activision justifies its abilities as a leader in FPS games.
In the latest edition, Alex Mason plays the role of chief protagonist and the storyline moves between the settings of the Cold War and the future where an adversary from the past comes back to set up a war between China and America. And to make matters worse, now the soldiers have to battle the machines made by their own country. The final trailer in the series really shows the sheer impact of the game which is bundled with state-of-the-art visual effects and delves into the various settings within the game. One can even indulge in mid-air battles while swimming across the ‘atmosphere’ with a gryphon-like attack glider. And if that is not all, the preview also shows the various kinds of attack vehicles deployed in the actual game play. Not to miss is the Hollywood-like realism which has been a part of the franchise for quite some time now.
There is a review right in the middle of the trailer which mentions ‘Poised to Blow you Away’ and one could not agree more at this point. And yes, if you have not made up your mind yet, Activision takes extra care to project the Nuketown 2025 multiplayer map which would be part of the pre-order pack. The multiplayer has been one of the highlights of the Call of Duty series and the latest edition would not be lagging behind in maintaining the creditability of the series. Also, the gaming company has even offered the Call of Duty: Elite along with pre-order version absolutely free. It is also offering a free access to the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Double XP Launch Weekend as well. And yes, while you are still considering the purchase of the game, do remember it also has the delectable Zombies coop as well. All in all, the game’s package is tough to beat and only something as formidable as Halo 4 could only provide a tough fight!
A long and arduous wait is finally over for the fans of the Call of Duty series. Activision and Treyarch revealed more details about their upcoming venture, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Many of the game fans were warming up to the fact that the game forwarded itself well into the future depicting 2025 when soldiers have to combat with a lot of gadgetry which could redefine modern battles. The nasty multiplayer gives an apt preview of such a battle showing a unique setting for such a war. Besides the unique setting, the multiplayer preview shows a rich array of game play churning out at a rate of 60 frames per second. After all, it is not news that they are running the same old engine which is well ahead of its league. But, the graphics although upped from its previous versions faces a tough competition from other FPS games such as Borderlands 2 which do shine out separately. One does prefer the new set of colors that Treyarch is willing to try in this new version. Another fact which is going for the Black Ops 2 is the set of modern weaponry mixed with traditional assault weapons such as hatchet shown in a slick Hollywood-like execution in the trailer.
Also, the game shows some innovative gadgets such as grenades which mess with enemies’ jolting them electrically. It also shows the deployment of a reflector shield which can stun the opponents giving you ample cover to launch an assault and shoot them down. Since the theme of the game does rest on the assault from unmanned weapons operated by a terror faction, the multiplayer seems to be dotted with scenarios where different kinds of quadrotor drones and other air borne machines can change the course of the battle. Bombs can be thrown and detonated using a remote in the assault course. The trailer is given an abrupt ending with a plane doing a Kamikaze on the player but then again the ‘Future could have been Black’ sans the crash as well.
The rewards option is also extensively presented in the trailer showing some new additions in the list of medals and rewards which were a feature of previous games. Tags such as ‘Red Baron’ and ‘Flyswatter’ are part of the kill rewards in this version. The shooting is still the USP of this game play showing different modes of tracing the enemy and making a perfect kill.
Though the multiplayer is a vital element of this Call of Duty edition, it waits to be seen whether it will elevate matters for the game and heighten the anticipation of the fans. After all, the battle still persists between Battlefield 3, Medal of Honor: Warfighter and FPS such as Borderlands 2 who will have the advantage of playing with gamer imaginations before the November 13 launch of Black Ops 2.… Read the rest
The gaming season is beginning as the big names of Fall 2012 come out with their own set of perks to boost up their sales. The latest to join the league is Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed 3…
The games have come a long way from the earlier times when we used to buy simple discs for playing out sequenced formats one after the other. Just like a sale in the Holiday season, every game comes along with a bagful of ‘perks’ and ‘pre-order benefits’ for the gamer. As Fall 2012 approaches, gaming majors have raised their bar for promoting their own brands of the season. Starting off the proceedings, Activision’s Call of Duty series is offering a series of goodies at an additional price of 10 pounds including a Quadrotor drone prop for Xbox 360 players and an entry into the Black Ops 2 Perks Program sweepstake as well. A pre-order before August 5 will make them eligible to win a chance to visit Gamescom. Playstation 3 players can get a Quadrotor theme for themselves as well.
Pre-order benefits also include a Nuketown 2025 map on a 10 pound deposit. There are more to follow and you don’t have to worry if you have already made the pre-order and did not get any of these perks. You just have to shell out an extra 5 pounds to get the required deal. And if you think that your kitty is not yet full, then pick up the Assassin’s Creed III pre-order package through Newegg. You will get a straight 20 per cent discount on the retail price of the game. You can get the game for a cool 47.99 dollars as compared to 59.99 dollars offered by the manufacturer. Do remember to enter “EMCYTZT1964” as the promo code to get the discount. The game would have a release date of October 30, 2012 and besides the usual perk, Ubisoft is also planning to also promote a ‘post launch episodic content’ which is expected to the top of the line DLC, which is expected to ‘set the bar’ in the gaming industry.
Ubisoft, which is gaining a lot of publicity owing to its latest enterprise ‘Watch Dogs’ is now expected to give tough competition to its contemporaries with Assassin’s Creed III. The ‘Season Pass’ is another feature that is going to be part of this edition, which has lead to speculations that the game would be augmented through a series of DLC releases. This is expected to commence soon. The game has progressed nicely and its latest edition is expected to make the battleground tougher for established enterprises such as Red Dead Redemption as well. Ubisoft seems to picking up well on the ‘trail’ of other gaming majors and catching up on favorites such as Rockstar Games. But as the season begins, more pre-order goodies are being announced every day and as long as the ‘perks’ keep on increasing, I am not complaining! After all, these just keep the gaming clime more ‘perkier’!… Read the rest
The script of a game often plays a crucial role in the enhancing the gaming experience and Activision has taken initiative to greatly improve this aspect of their game, even bringing in one of the writers of the ‘Dark Knight Rises’. Are we seeing a Hollywood-isation of the modern games?
Christopher Nolan’s epic venture sees the light of the day finally. Even as every Batman movie conjures up a new thrill for the audience, the latest version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 would be rendering a similar anthem across the gaming world. For starters, it has the ‘Dark Knight’ effect with the inclusion of David S Goyer who has written the script for the game. Also, another genius is also associated with the venture. Academy Award winning composer Trent Reznor is credited with the score of the game which would feature pulsating sequences and extreme action. A trailer featuring their viewpoints regarding the franchise is also doing the rounds. Goyer’s inclusion into the scripting section does boost the franchise and also gives it a meaner edge as compared to its contemporaries.
One is drawn to the latest venture of Dark Knight series and a well sketched out villain such as ‘Bane’ who is out to destroy humanity. Similarly, CoD: Black Ops 2 includes a meaner antagonist such as Raul Menendez and a group Cordis Die which easily resembles the various terror outfits which are gaining popularity over the modern media. Mayhem is the word of the day. Even though certain sections of fans may not admire the adaptation of a movie-like setting for a game, but this phenomenon is here to stay. Even as we are preparing for a live action series for Halo 4 and new multiplayer additions to existing games, one can welcome the era of gaming where ‘less is bore’! Even the 11-minute gameplay demo at the Microsoft E3 showed a series of events which ensures that the players would have a task at their hands while being involved with the game.
The CoD game which is a 1 billion dollar entity is entering a new segment by focusing on the war of the future. Set in around 2025, it reflects on a world torn by its own machines which were meant to protect itself. Even as Die would generate a conflict situation between America and China using the machines created by US itself, David Mason (protagonist) and his team will battle them to restore peace. Let’s face it, machines turning against humans is not a fresh theme but one lives in such an imminent threat every day. Treyarch has played itself well on the narrative entwining it well with the game play in all its versions. Trusting its experience and expertise, one can assume that this time around also, the script will play a crucial role in building up the tempo of the game. But would it be enough to sustain the interest of the gamers? One would have to wait till November 13, 2012 to discover that!… Read the rest
