  • Do not download any malicious application from mobile app stores offering an Online Banking facility or feature. It is best to check their authenticity with the bank before downloading any such app.
  • Choose an account with two-factor authentication. Most of the banks today offer two-factor authentication for online banking to protect sensitive information.
  • Always keep a strong password. The best way to achieve this is by making it long and a mix of upper- and lower-case letters, numbers, and special characters. Stay away from using common words or phrases that can be easily cracked and also never have a password that consists of your name, initials, or your date of birth. 
  • Change your Internet Banking password at regular intervals
  • Ensure your system is up to date with the latest security patches. Also, perform a regular scans with a regularly with Antivirus to make sure that the system is Virus/Trojan free.

  • Download your relevant banking application on the mobile device instead of using the browser
  • Do not carry out an online transactions using public wireless networks. Often these networks are unsecured and hackers are always laying traps using such networks. It is best advised to connect only through a secured or private wireless network.
  • Never ever connect to another device when banking.
  • Since some banking applications store sensitive and confidential data in plain text, it is always better to look out for data traces left behind after every transaction and it is equally important to delete it.
  • Always lock your phone when not using it to prevent unauthorized user access. Check your phone settings and enable the auto-lock feature.
