Microsoft Will Soon Launch Outlook Lite for Android

Mobile apps have gained popularity in the last few years, as they make it easy for us to perform specific tasks. And there are also a few apps that even have their lighter versions.

Similarly, the tech giant Microsoft is also going to launch a light/lite version of its Outlook for Android. With this, the company aims at making the Outlook app much lighter and faster than before.

Microsoft mentioned the launch of the Outlook Lite app for Android on its updated Microsoft 365 roadmap. As per the entry, the app will be available for all the users worldwide this month itself, i.e., July 2022.

The app’s brief description says, ā€œAn Android app that brings the main benefits of Outlook in a smaller app size with fast performance for low-end devices or any network.ā€

The Outlook Lite version already exists for some countries

Here is something interesting about the Lite version of the Outlook app.

Microsoft is not launching a lighter version of the Outlook app for the first time. A report by Dr Windows suggests that a lighter version of the Outlook app already exists by the name ā€œOutlook liteā€ in some selected countries. There are various Microsoft documentation where the company has talked about the lite version of Outlook for Android.

However, the current Outlook lite app available for some selected countries, only supports personal Outlook, Live, MSN, and Hotmail accounts. This lite version doesn’t work for school or work accounts.

The report also says that a lighter version of Outlook has more or less similar functionalities as the original version of the Outlook app on Android. The lite version is even faster than the original one.

The updated roadmap could also mean that the company is preparing the Lite Outlook version with more features and a wider reach. As of now, there is no official confirmation of what new features will be added to Outlook Lite. But as soon as we get to know, we will update you. We can even expect support for third-party accounts such as Gmail to come in the future.
