iPhone users have been affected by the issue of WhatsApp crashing. WhatsApp crashes randomly on iPhone when the user tries to respond to a message or access contact lists.
The issue has affected several users globally. The problem was reported by iPhone users including the ones owning the latest iPhone 13. Initially, it was reported that issue is in the Apple’s latest iOS update. However, it was then noted that the issue was also faced by users having older versions of operating system as well.
Users reported the WhatsApp crashing issue on Twitter. They complained about how WhatsApp is crashing as and when they try to send a text message.

The WhatsApp crashing issue is recently faced by only iOS users. This could be a server issue or a bug in the WhatsApp application. It is noted that even the WhatsApp beta version available on Testflight has been crashing.
Head of Engineering at WhatsApp Nitin Gupta acknowledged the problem on Twitter. He asked the users to launch the app in Airplane mode. The problem was also reported by WABetaInfo earlier. But it has now claimed that the issue has been fixed. However, WhatsApp has not confirmed it yet.
Also, few months ago WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook faced a global outage for hours. The issue cost the company billions of dollars.
How to fix WhatsApp crashing issue on iPhone
Several ways are there to fix WhatsApp crashing issue. Here we will tell you few of them.
NOTE: The ways below are for iOS 13 users.
First way is to force restart your iPhone
If the issue is due to a minor glitch, then this way will work out for sure. Force restart is the way to refresh your iPhone’s memory.
Here is how to do it:
- You have to quickly press and release the volume up button, after this quickly press and release the volume down button
- As soon as you release the volume down button, press and hold the power key
- Press the key until the Apple logo shows up on the screen
Once rebooting is done, open WhatsApp and see if the problem has been disappeared. If it works its okay, if not move to the next way.
Second way is to uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp
Reinstalling app is the best way to fix the problem. This will also solve the issue if it was due to outdated version. You can even try factory reset.
