Instagram is currently testing a feature that will allow people to use AI chatbots within the app. Popular developer Alessandro Paluzzi shared some screenshots on Twitter indicating Instagram could introduce AI to enhance the chat experience.
Paluzzi tweeted, “Instagram is working on bringing AI Agents to your chats for a more fun and engaging experience, AI Agents will be able to answer questions and give advice. You’ll be able to choose from 30 different personalities.”

Expected release of AI Chatbot on Instagram
The exact timeline or potential release date of the AI chatbot feature on Instagram has not yet been revealed. Nevertheless, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a new product team dedicated to generative AI in February. This highlights Meta’s commitment to work on products that evolve and implement progressive AI technologies.

AI chatbots could revolutionise user interaction if implemented within Instagram’s messaging system. It could offer innovative avenues for personalised engagement and assistance. For instance, automated responses and guidance on various scenarios and topics would be sent and received. This could add a layer of interactivity to the photo-video sharing platform.
A Micro-blogging Site by Meta Also on the Cards
Instagram is preparing to launch a micro-blogging text platform by the end of June to compete with Twitter. Lia Haberman’s Substack newsletter suggests that the platform would either be called Barcelona or P92. This text-based app shall offer features that are much like Twitter.
With plans to introduce a text-based app and integrate AI within Instagram, users can expect varied experiences additionally from Meta.
