Using live maps tech Haryana is set to understand what zones are the most accident prone in the state. With this tech at play, a grid is generated for these places on a live map. This helps the police locate these spots immediately, Sanjeev Kaushal, Haryana Chief Secretary has said.
The Official Word
As he presiding over a Road Safety Fund Management Committee meeting, the officer directed that all data from live maps must be shared with stakeholder departments such as police, public work services, health sector, transport as well as urban bodies to ensure special focus on accident-prone spots across the entire state.
More Stress on Road Safety
Kaushal further added that lane changing by heavy vehicles contributes to a number of accidents. He stressed on the need for better lighting, sign board placements and beautification on highways. Besides this, use of reflective tapes and boards must be made at blind spots as well as crossings for night hours.
Currently, the state has approved a ₹ 36 crore budget for maintaining and improving road infrastructure. The local bodies have be entrusted with the tasks of budget planning and management of resources for the relevant purpose.
