Twitter has a new logo now. Musk let go of the iconic blue bird and Elon Musk rebranded Twitter. The platform has an ‘X’ instead of the little birdie. It is a white X with a black backdrop. There has been a lot of controversy and speculation since Musk took over Twitter.
Why did Elon Musk rebrand Twitter?
A recent report by CNBC states that the X represents Musk’s ambition to form an all-encompassing “everything app” platform.
After the change, Musk shared his own message on the platform that said the name Twitter held meaning when it could allow only 140 characters for a post just like the short and sweet conversations among birds. Users can post ‘almost anything’ now. Thus, the change makes sense.
On the contrary, analysts have said that they consider this move risky as it is degenerating years of branding that went to make Twitter the brand where it is now. It is also notable that recently several people have downgraded the Twitter rating to 1 after the name was changed to X.

Linda’s view
Musk has earlier appointed former NBC Universal executive Linda Yaccarino as Twitter’s CEO. She took over as the new CEO on 5th June 2023. The rebranding is the most significant change after her induction.
She tweeted, “X is here! Let’s do this.” Linda also tweeted, “It’s an exceptionally rare thing – in life or in business – that you get a second chance to make another big impression. Twitter made one massive impression and changed the way we communicate. Now, X will go further, transforming the global town square.”
