Apple announced a new Mac mini in a surprise launch on Tuesday. It is supercharged by M2 and M2 Pro. The device starts at $ 599 which is cheaper than the latest iPhone 14 series. The product would be available from 24th January 2023.
According to the company, the M2 Pro chip offers pro-level performance to the Mac mini. It enables users to run high-performance tasks previously unthinkable. Mac mini offers more unified memory, faster performance, and advanced connectivity. It supports two displays on the M2 model and three displays on the M2 Pro model.
Comparison
When the Mac mini with M2 Pro is compared with the 27-inch iMac, it offers:
- Up to 50% faster function performance and filter in the Adobe Photoshop
- Up to 4.4x faster object tracking in the Final Cut Pro

Company speaks
The senior vice president of worldwide marketing of Apple, Greg Joswiak, said, “With incredible capabilities and a wide array of connectivity in its compact design, Mac mini is used in so many places, in so many different ways. Today, we’re excited to take it even further with M2 and M2 Pro.”
He further added, “Bringing even more performance and a lower starting price, Mac mini with M2 is a tremendous value. And for users who need powerful pro performance, Mac mini with M2 Pro is unlike any other desktop in its class.”
This was surely a surprise since Apple rarely launches any product in January. In a year Apple generally has four launch events starting with the spring event which happens in March. Mostly iMacs and accessories are launched by Apple during the spring launch.
