iPad Mini 2 Vs Google Nexus 7: Why Apple Is Not Able To Beat The Rulers In The Mini Market?

We know that Apple’s iPad Mini that was launched last year went on to become quite a popular tablet in the market, and there has been a lot of hype around its successor, the iPad Mini 2 for a while now. Notwithstanding the success, given that Apple has still not announced any launch date for the next-gen iPad Mini, we doubt if you should really bother waiting for it. Here’s why:

The iPad Mini drew a lot of flak for its low-resolution screen. For a premium priced tablet, its screen was anything but attractive, especially in comparison with that of its competitors’ like the Google Nexus 7. But according to the rumors, Apple’s planning to change that and put in the Retina Display feature in the iPad Mini 2. Sounds exciting, doesn’t it? Only if you’re willing to shell out even more bucks on it, though. Given that the iPad Mini itself starts at $329 for the WiFi-only model, we can only imagine just how much the 4G version could set you back by.

If you are looking at spending money on an iPad Mini only to use it as an e-book reader, well, you’ve got far better alternative options which could cost you a lot less. Sure, they’re 7-inch tablets while the iPad Mini’s got a 7.9-inch screen, but the price difference doesn’t really justify that extra 0.9-inches in the iPad Mini screen.

Apple’s planning to bump up the processor in the iPad Mini 2 from the current A5 to an A6X processor – the same that powers the iPad 4. There are also rumors of a brand new A7 processor being designed by Apple. But if you’re not into running very heavy apps, you don’t really need all that power. The iPad Mini should suit you just fine.

Apple iPad Mini Vs Acer Iconia A1 Vs Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0: Who Is Poised To Be Apple’s Competitor?

While everyone’s going ga ga over the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, discussing how it is poised to be the perfect competitor to the Apple iPad Mini, Acer introduced its own counter to this popular 8-inch tablet – the Iconia A1-810. Now even though the company wanted to keep a low profile, we couldn’t help but notice this tablet.

Like the iPad Mini, the Iconia A1-810 also has a 7.9-inch display, with a resolution of 1024X768 pixels and comes with a price tag of £199, making it quite an interesting alternative to the higher priced iPad Mini. The device is powered by a quad-core 1.2 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM, and comes with 16 GB of internal storage.

It is fitted with a 5 MP rear camera but we find its 0.3 MP front-facing camera a tad inadequate. The Iconia A1-810 runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and is slightly heavier than the iPad Mini at 460g. According to an e-commerce site, Acer will start shipping the device from June, while we’re still waiting on an official confirmation from its makers.

Would The Radiant Display Of Apple iPad Mini 2 Take Away The Cake From Google Nexus 7 And Microsoft Surface

Apple’s miniature iPad offering did quite well in the market since its release last year, and now, it’s almost time for a new version to come out. Here’s a compilation of all the rumors we’ve heard about the 2nd generation iPad Mini so far:

One of the first rumors we’d heard about the iPad Mini 2 was that it could come with Apple’s famous Retina Display technology, but it would most likely be costlier than the iPad Mini as a result. While consumers lapped up the iPad Mini, the tablet’s resolution was a lot lower than many of its Android competitors, which were priced lower too.

The current iPad Mini has a resolution of 1024X768 pixels, while the Retina Display iPad Mini 2 can get a resolution of 2048X1536 pixels. That’s nearly twice the resolution of the first generation iPad Mini.

Like every updated device, the iPad Mini 2 is also expected to get more powerful than the iPad Mini. According to rumors, Apple is planning to upgrade the processor from the current A6 processor to either an A6X processor or an A7 processor. So yes, you can multitask more and run a lot more apps easily.

While the iPad Mini 2 was expected to release by March this year, there is speculation that the delay is being caused by Apple’s idea to release the new tablet with a brand new iOS 7. But if it takes more time to come up with iOS 7, Apple might either launch the iPad Mini 2 with the existing OS or delay it further until the new OS is ready.… Read the rest

Apple iPad Mini Vs Samsung Galaxy Tab: Unrelenting Obsession Of Being No 1

And you thought their rivalry was restricted to just the smartphone space. In what can probably make the battle fiercer, according to a recent market research done by Canalys, both Apple and Samsung have made it to the list of the top 5 PC makers. Confused? That’s because the company included tablets in the category, and made Apple the leader – having shipped 27 million units during the last quarter of 2012.

Following Apple were HP and Lenovo as 2 and 3 respectively, after shipping around 15 million units. Samsung came in fourth, accounting for around 9 percent of the share and shipping 11.7 million PC units. 7.6 million units among this number were tablets from Samsung. The consumption of tablets is continuously growing, as confirmed by this research. Canalys has also featured Amazon in this list, having shipped 18 percent more tablets during 2012 than in 2011.

Apple was anyway leading in the tablet world, thanks to its most popular iPad. However, even though the iPad 4 wasn’t too well received, it did have the advantage of the iPad Mini that it introduced last year, which helped it stay on top. According to estimates, nearly half of Apple’s shipments were iPad Mini tablets.

Microsoft, the newest entrant in the tablet space, managed to rake up 3 percent share in the tablet market, after shipping over 700,000 Surface tablets. But while the new players emerge as leaders, it only spells bad news for traditional PC leaders like Dell, which registered a 19 percent drop down to 9.7 million units since 2011.

Apple iPad Mini Vs Amazon Kindle: Amazon Has Risen Up On The Hill Leaving Apple At Bottom

While loyalists still swearing by Apple iPad Mini, we have better reason to bank on Android– across its Google and non-Google avatars. With the latest figures from the fourth quarter of the fiscal that just ended, we know that Amazon has risen to the higher rungs! Perhaps, the Amazon Kindle has kindled this furious rise up the rank board.

Hear it straight from IDC, “Overall tablet market saw big growth for the holiday quarter, up 75.3% year-on-year and 74.3% from Q3.” Stats reveal that Amazon saw a hike in share by about 11.5 per cent that could be achieved with 6 million Kindle(s) shipped in the fourth quarter.

However, before you see this rise as the fall of Apple—let us make it clear—Apple has seen shoulder matching from Amazon but is still at top. Just that, it now needs to take care of remaining up there. Microsoft fans were a tad disappointed that the Surface did not equip it with power to gain a slot among the top 5.

With Andy marching fast, Apple could be in for a tight match.
