As a YouTube channel holder you need to appeal for removing age restriction from your videos. Follow the following steps to remove age restriction from YouTube videos.
Note: You can appeal for age restriction on a particular video only once.
As a YouTube channel holder
- Reach out to YouTube Studio
- Tap on the ‘Content’
- Tap on the ‘Appeals Link’ shown next to the age restricted video
- Now YouTube authorities and teams will review your appeal. Then, they will decide further action.
As a Viewer
In this case there are two ways to turn off the Age related restriction on YouTube. You can either
- Update or change your Birth date
- Disable the safety mode
How to Update or change the date of birth
- Log in to your Google Account using your email and password
- Tap on the ‘Home tab’ visible at the top of the screen
- Now, go to the left side of the page, and tap on the ‘Profile’
- Tap on the ‘About’ button and check the information on your profile
- Go to the Birthday, Gender and More options > Now tap on the pencil (edit) button next to the ‘Birthday’ option
- Enter your updated or increased date of birth > And then hit ‘Update’
And you are done, after your date of birth is updated (when you are 18+ on your Google accounts). You won’t be age restricted anymore.

How to Disable Safety Mode
- Open your YouTube homepage > go to the top of the page > Tap on your Profile icon
- Go to Menu > scroll down > Go to the last option > Restricted Mode (which is on)
- Open the Restricted Mode option > Select off option
- If it shows a prompt and asks for your Google account authentication. That means Safety Mode is locked
- Authenticate your Google Account using Google ID and Password
- Now ‘Save’ all changes to make sure Safety Mode is disabled.
