Google and Android Smart TV
Since Smart TVs essentially have big screens, people expect only the best output qualities. Thus, whether people are using Amazon Prime Video or any other streaming app, there is no option to choose video quality.
The video quality is automatically adjusted based on internet speed. A fast high-speed connection gives a higher-quality video stream and a slower connection would give a lower-quality video stream.
Samsung Smart TV
To change the streaming quality of a Samsung Smart TV, go to the Settings menu of the app on your TV, click on the Streaming option, find the video quality option, and then change the video quality as per your requirement.
LG Smart TV (webOS)
People using LG Smart TV running on webOS can change the video quality from the Settings menu directly.
Firestick
To change the video quality on your TV using Amazon’s Firestick, you need to:
- Open the Amazon Prime Video app on the Firestick
- Choose the menu icon in the top left screen
- Tap on Settings
- Select Video Quality under Streaming Options
- Go for the desired video quality
Apple TV
- Open the Amazon Prime Video app on the Apple TV
- Go to Settings
- Find the Streaming and Downloading option
- Select between SD or HD
How to change the streaming quality on Amazon Prime on other devices?
On a PC or laptop
- Log in to your Amazon Prime Video account using your chosen browser
- Choose the content you want to watch
- As the video starts playing, hit the gear icon
- Select the Video Quality as per your preference from the three options
On Windows app
- To begin with update the Amazon Prime Video app for Windows if it is not updated already
- Launch the app on your computer or laptop
- Choose the content you want to watch
- Take your mouse to the gear icon on the top right
- Click on it to get three options for video quality- Good, Better, and Best
- Select your preferred quality
On a smartphone
- Open the Amazon Prime Video app on your device
- Click on the profile icon
- Hit the gear icon
- Go to Stream & download
- Click on the Streaming quality
- If you use mobile data, then ensure to turn off the toggle beside the option Stream on Wi-Fi only
- Choose your preferred video streaming quality from the options- Best, Better, Good, and Data Saver
- You can turn on the toggle for the Use highest quality on Wi-Fi option, especially if you have access to an unlimited high-speed internet connection
On PlayStation or Xbox
- Open the Amazon Prime Video app on the console
- Ensure that both the console and the app are updated
- Browse and start the content you want to watch
- Tap on the gear icon
- Take your pick from the three options- Good, Better, and Best
