WhatsApp Unveils New Screen-Sharing Feature to Enhance Video Call Experience

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, has introduced an exciting addition to WhatsApp’s capabilities. Users can now seamlessly share their screens while engaged in video calls, regardless of their platform. This feature empowers users to effortlessly display real-time content from their screens to one or multiple participants on the call.

From collaborating on work documents and reliving cherished memories through photos to jointly planning vacations or enjoying online shopping sprees with friends, and even providing tech support to grandparents – WhatsApp’s screen-sharing feature opens up a world of possibilities. According to the press release from WhatsApp, this feature allows you to showcase your screen’s live view during your calls effortlessly.

How to use the new Share Screening feature on WhatsApp?

To use the new feature, you need to install the latest version of WhatsApp on your device. When engaged in a video call, a ‘Share’ icon will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. All you need to do is tap on this icon prompts to request for screen sharing permissions. Once granted, your screen content becomes a live stream for the other participant on the call.

However, the new feature will be deployed in phases. While some people may already be able to see the feature on their screen, others will have to wait.

That said, the new feature also offers landscape mode for video calls. This feature is useful especially when sharing the screen from a desktop for a broader and improved viewing experience.

Additionally, the new WhatsApp feature can be used for group chat too making WhatsApp more versatile for professional settings. Now, users can use the WhatsApp screen-sharing feature instead of Google Meet or Zoom.
