WhatsApp Has Plans for Offering Cashback Rewards on Payments

Back in November 2020, WhatsApp rolled out the WhatsApp payment feature in India. This feature allowed all the WhatsApp users to make UPI transactions from one account to another using the app.

Now, the Meta owned platform, WhatsApp has come up with an exciting cashback offer for its users for the WhatsApp payment feature.  The offer is expected to launch before the end of May. Under this luring offer, when a person will make payments via its platform, he will get a cashback up to ₹ 33 ($0.40). No matter how small the payment has been made, the user will still get the cashback reward.

The latest offer has come out days after WhatsApp got regulatory approval to extend the payment service from 40 million users to 100 million users.

Vice President of research at Counterpoint Research, Neil Shah said that even though the cashback amount appears to be less, it would still be a “compelling enough” cause for the users to switch.

Talking to Reuters, a WhatsApp spokesperson said that they are running this campaign which offers cashback incentives in a phased manner to their users as a way to “unlock the potential of payments on WhatsApp”.

Here is how you can get cashback on WhatsApp.

How to get cashback on WhatsApp?

  • First, open your WhatsApp and click on three dots in the upper right corner
  • Select the ‘Payments’ option and then tap on send new payment
  • After this, you will have to choose the contact you want to send money to
  • Enter the amount you want to send> tap next> then tap send payment> just enter your UPI PIN

NOTE: If the contact you are sending money to will be registered for payments on WhatsApp, you will see a gift icon next to their name. In case you don’t see a gift icon beside their name, you will have to invite them to join WhatsApp payment.
