Is There A Way To Remove the Grey Bar At the Bottom Of iPhone?

Technology has got to a point when a swipe can do so much more than change screen. When the iPhone X came to market in 2017, iOS had two options. One that had home button and another that did not.

When Did iPhone Bring On The Grey Bar?

Without a physical home button, the iPhone models depended on gestures and swipes heavily. All this led to larger displays that covered the front of the iPhone completely. However, this made the Home Bar stay visible as a grey bar at the screen bottom always. Even when you are using an app or playing a game. The grey bar just never seems to move away.

Will You Be Able To Erase Out The Grey Bar At The Bottom Of iPhone?

The bad news is that you CANNOT remove the grey bar at the bottom of iPhone or turn it off. And no one knows why Apple engineered the newer range of devices to stay this way. Until iOS 14 turns up with an update to hide the grey line, use the following ways to work around it-

One way to work around the grey bar is use of Accessibility Settings. You need to perform this for every app though, every time.

  1. Open Accessibility via Settings and click on Guided Access. Set ON mode.

  1. Open any app and then click on power button thrice.
  2. You will enter mode for Guide Access and get a notification. That’s that.
  3. In this mode, the grey Home bar will not be visible since it prevents users from leaving applications.
  4. For leaving the app, triple-click on power button to enter the passcode.

Pro Pointer- You cannot take a screenshot in Guided Access mode.

If a window for Guided Access appears when you try to leave the app, tap on Start or Resume for entering the Guided Access mode.

Siri is the quicker way for opening the Guided Access mode. Open any app and ask Siri to “Start up Guided Access.”
