Before knowing how to delete apps, let us understand why you cannot see some apps on the home screen. Here are a few reasons.
- Apple has introduced App Library in iOS 14. This allows you to hide apps from your sight. Press an app icon>remove app> remove from Home Screen. This way you can move the app to the App Library and make it visible there and not on the home screen.
- Go to Settings> Home Screen and select App Library. If you have downloaded a new app, the icons will be visible only in the App Library and not on the Home Screen.
- If you hide the iPhone home screen page in iOS 14, it will automatically hide all the apps on the page.
- The apps could be hidden inside an app folder or on the second or third page.
How to delete hidden apps on iPhone?
1. Delete apps from Spotlight
- Swipe down your home screen and type the name of the app
- Press and hold the icon for a few seconds and then click on Delete App>Delete
2. Delete apps from Settings
The Settings includes all installed Apple as well as third-party apps. Follow these steps to remove hidden apps from Settings.
- Go to Settings >General
- Click on iPhone Storage. It will take a while to display all the apps.
- Click on the app name you want to delete
- Next, tap on Delete App and then confirm
3. Delete apps from App Library
- Swipe left on the home screen till you reach the App Library. You will see apps under proper categories
- Locate the app you want to delete
- Tap on the app icon and hold it. Next, tap Delete App>Delete.
Pro tip: When you tap the search box or swipe down the App Library, you will see a list of apps in alphabetical order. When you long-press the app icon, you will see the ‘Delete App’ option.
That said, if you press the app name and drag it, it will create a duplicate of the app’s icon on the Home Screen. This way there can be many icons of the same app.
4. Delete apps from the App Store
This method allows you to delete apps that have a pending update or the apps that have been updated recently.
- Go to the App Store and tap your profile picture. Long press on the App Store icon. Next, choose Updates.
- Scroll down and find the app there. In case you cannot, pull down the updates screen to refresh it.
- Swipe left on the name and click on Delete in case the app is under “Available Updates” or “Updated Recently”.
