Recently, Apple unveiled a new security feature to help safeguard users who might be at risk due to digital threats. The security feature is known as ‘Lockdown Mode’. Various spyware firms are being exposed for hacking into Android and iOS devices. So, this feature will help to reduce the chances of any sort of threats.
Devices that support Lockdown Mode
As of now, Lockdown Mode can be used on any Apple device running iOS 16, macOS Ventura, or iPadOS. However, iOS 16 is only available as a developer beta, but it may soon be accessible as a public beta as well.

How does Lockdown Mode work?
Lockdown Mode offers an “extreme, optional level of security” for the ones who are targeted by the Pegasus software. This Lockdown Mode expands iOS security features just by limiting some functions that might be exposed to attack. These are:
- Service requests and incoming invitations, such as FaceTime calls, are blocked if in case you never called the person before
- Majority of attachments, excluding photos are blocked. Also, some features such as link previews are deactivated
- Share albums in photos are removed, whereas new invitations for shared albums are blocked
- Even web technologies, including just-in-time JavaScript compilation are disabled. If you wish to enable these, you will have to remove them from Lockdown Mode
- You cannot install configuration profiles
- You cannot enroll your device in mobile device management
- Wired connections between your iOS and your system or accessory are blocked
Here’s how to enable Lockdown Mode on iOS 16
- First of all, go to the SETTINGS option on your device
- From there, choose PRIVACY & SECURITY
- You will then see LOCKDOWN MODE there. Just tap TURN on Lockdown Mode and choose TURN ON & RESTART

- Once you complete all these steps, your iPhone will reboot instantly and the Lockdown Mode will be enabled.
How to disable Lockdown Mode?
You can easily disable Lockdown Mode on your device. For this got o SETTINGS > PRIVACY & SECURITY > Lockdown Mode
When you click on Lockdown Mode, just tap on Turn off and restart, and you are done
Lockdown Mode will be rolled out for iPhone users later this year. And with this, Apple has promised to roll out more such protection to strengthen Lockdown Mode.
