You can now let AI order your favourite meal while you finish your pending work or catch up on the latest episode of your favourite sitcom. Swiggy is now letting users order food with the help of AI platforms like ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini and Claude.
Users can simply type and tell AI chatbots what they want, and the platform will take care of the rest. The best part is that Swiggy has introduced this new feature across all its business verticals: Swiggy Food, Instamart and Dineout. So, not only can they order food using AI, Swiggy users in India can also ask Gemini or ChatGPT to order groceries and book restaurant tables with a simple natural language prompt.
The firm has further claimed that Instamart is the first quick-commerce platform across the globe to adopt Model Context Protocol (MCP).
What Is MCP – The Tech Behind AI Ordering?
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open-source standard that lets AI models easily link to other data sources, tools, and systems. It was created by the American AI startup Anthropic in November 2024.
It connects artificial intelligence systems to apps and services in the real world, which cuts down on the requirement for custom connections.
How To Connect Swiggy With AI Agents Like ChatGPT?
Whether you want to use ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Cursor or any another MCP-supported AI agent, you can simply follow the below steps to set up Swiggy’s MCP integration:
- Open your AI assistant
- Go to settings and find connectors
- Add custom connector/app
- Enter a name for the connector
- Paste the relevant Swiggy MCP URL
- Swiggy (food delivery): mcp.swiggy.com/food
- Instamart: mcp.swiggy.com/instamart
- Dineout: mcp.swiggy.com/dineout

How AI Ordering Work on Swiggy?
Once a food/grocery delivery app is integrated with an AI platform, users can simply write prompts like “Order Chinese food for two under Rs 500” or “Book a table for a business meeting for five at a high-end cafe.”
The AI platform will then search for food, restaurants or products; compare prices and offers; select quantity; apply coupons; confirm address and payment method; and place the order. However, payment approval will remain with the customers to ensure transparency and security.
The Larger AI Picture
According to the Google X Inc42 Bharat AI Startups Report-2026, the artificial intelligence market in India is estimated to be worth $126 billion by 2030, and a potential GDP impact of $1.7 trillion by 2035.
In April 2025, Razorpay became the first company in the Indian market to adopt a Model Context Protocol server for its payment gateway. It enabled businesses to integrate AI-driven systems with its payment infrastructure and allowed AI assistants to create payment links, initiate refunds and manage transactions.
Swiggy, being one of the first Indian consumer brands to adopt MCP and integrate its delivery and restaurant booking platform with AI agents, has made significant progress in the race for AI-led commerce.
Experts think that these kinds of interactions could change the way people use delivery platforms, as Swiggy’s competitors like Zomato and Blinkit are also looking into similar tools to enable AI ordering. If many people start using AI-powered ordering, it might soon become as normal as looking at a menu. This could change how Indians order meals and supplies.
