Intel To Launch Bitcoin Mining ASIC

The semiconductor manufacturing giant- Intel, is all set to unveil energy-efficient chip for Bitcoin Mining at ISSCC. ISSCC or International Solid-State Circuits Conference is held every year to provide engineers with the opportunity to build networks with leading experts. The best people with brightest minds in the chip industry gather in this conference.

On February 23, 2022, Intel has planned a presentation in the ‘Highlighted Chip Releases’ category to showcase latest “Bonanza Mine Chip”. The chip is said to be an “ultra-low-voltage energy-efficient Bitcoin Mining ASIC.

With this, Intel will now compete with the likes of MicroBT and Bitmain in the market for bitcoin mining ASICs. Talking to Tom’s Hardware Intel said that for several years it has done design work around SHA 256 optimized ASICs. They will share furthermore details in the future too.

Indeed, a great news for bitcoin miners, but is it same for gamers?

GPUs are the chips associated with mining cryptocurrency. During this time, when there is a shortage of GPU this Bonanza mine will not solve the shortage problem as ASIC is associated with Bitcoin mining.

GPU chief Raja Koduri in a statement said that he thinks blockchain is a transaction thing that runs more efficiently than the present burning of hardware cycles. And this is what they are working on. However, don’t confuse it with a GPU thing. GPUs will go gaming, graphics, and other great things.

He also added that being able to do more efficient blockchain validation at a much lower cost and power, is a solvable issue. They are working on that and in future they will share interesting hardware for that as well.
