India Set to Adopt USB Type-C Chargers Uniformly

0

India is about to adopt the ‘one nation, one charger’ rule with bringing in USB Type-C charger for every type of smartphone. The USB Type-C chargers generally allow devices to get charged  quicker than in case of a regular USB. India now plans  shifting over to USB Type-C chargers as a standard port used to charge  devices.

The government now is working on switching to the two separate types of chargers. As many countries are now working to adopt  ‘one nation, one charger’ policy India has joined the league too.

An official word

Rohit Kumar, the Union government Secretary, Consumer Affairs says, “The stakeholders have agreed to shift to a USB Type-C charging port for all smart devices during a meeting of an inter-ministerial task force.” An all new and separate group is looking at the consistency in charging ports in context of wearables such as smartwatches or earbuds.

Summing up

The USB Type-C charger works on the concept of USB Power Delivery. This works on a fast-charging protocol using 100 watts power on compatible devices. It is supported on USB-C connections.
