Xiaomi has released the latest update to its Android based operating system MIUI 12 on Tuesday. It is currently the world’s fourth biggest smartphone manufacturing company and is now trying to further expand its sphere of services.
The look and feel of the software will be one of the major changes users will see after installing the update. A company official noted that with MIUI 12, the animation renders differently and stretches more swiftly across the screen as the user taps on any application. The change is particularly visible in Xiaomi smartphone models which have rounded corners.
She further added that the graphical improvement can be largely credited to the new rendering engine in the company’s kernel-level innovation offering. Xiaomi has enabled Gaussian blur and colour blending. It further enables users to view in real time the different degrees of blurring as light penetrates different materials.
Major Surprises In The MIUI 12 OS Update
Xiaomi MIUI 12 has also brought in massive updates and improvements in several domains including user interface, privacy controls, multitasking support, etc. It will modify the display of power consumption, memory and storage to make it easier to comprehend the current state of their phone at one glance. Furthermore, it would also deploy dark mode for third party apps. Notably, it would also extend for the ones which are yet to introduce support for the dark mode feature.
MIUI 12 will improve multitasking support in Xiaomi phones by popping up additional apps on a floating screen. It would allow users to conveniently move around the additional app to engage quickly without switching from the initial game or application.
Moreover, the new ultra battery saver feature that sets in when the device hits 5 percent charge is set to be another major update with MIUI 12. It turns off all the non-essential services and can deliver up to 5 hours of additional battery life.
Furthermore, as the privacy debate continues to heat up, Xiaomi is also offering more privacy control to its users. It would enable users to easily monitor and restrict apps from using location, contacts, calendar, call logs, storage, camera and microphone.
The new OS will immediately alert users whenever an app uses either of these by showing persistent icons on the notification bar. It then shows users the particular app using that data and thereby facilitate in monitoring apps.
