Xiaomi spilled many beans on its upcoming projects and technologies at its recently held Mi Developers Conference, MIDC 2020 in Beijing. One of the major highlights of the event was the Xiaomi’s new camera technology; retractable camera technology.
In the past few years, manufacturers have continuously been trying to take it a notch higher with their smartphone cams. From multiple camera setups getting popular, unbelievably high resolution for mobiles or AI enabled photography; smartphones have just got better for photography enthusiasts and all the Insta queens.
Retractable Camera Technology Perks
Xiaomi is no different to the above mentioned trend. Its researchers and developers are also hoping to make their mark with their modified telescopic camera and retractable camera technology in the upcoming year.
Xiaomi’s new camera technology with a retractable design will reportedly be capable of achieving an increase of up to 300 percent light input through a periscopic lens. This massive increase in the lighting will further enhance the night photography in the smartphone. Additionally, new Mi camera technology is also expected to offer an increase of up to 20 percent in the picture clarity.
Zeng Xuezhong,President, Mobile Phone Department and Vice President, Xiaomi has also shared that the company’s new camera technology is influenced by traditional cameras. He further elaborated that upcoming smartphones featuring retractable camera technology will also come powered with an anti-shake technology.
Xiaomi has claimed that it will increase the camera sharpness by 20 percent and will allow users to capture a clear shot and even in case the users’ handshake while capturing the photo. This promising camera technology will quintessentially include a telescopic lens that will automatically extend while clicking pictures and retracts back into the phone once you are done.
We haven’t yet heard anything from the company’s officially on the date or smartphone to enter the market. We are expecting it in either of the Xiaomi Mi 11 or next in line of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra in the upcoming year 2021.
