Popular messaging service WhatsApp has been apparently removed from the Windows Phone Store without giving any prior notice. This is most likely due to some technical issues, and this scenario is believed to be temporary.
WhatsApp is termed as one of the most famous cross-platform messaging services and it is compactable with all mobile operating systems, but the app got disappeared from the Windows Phone Store unexpectedly. The users who have already downloaded and are using the service will not face any issues, but the one who are planning to download WhatsApp will not be able to move forward for now.
While searching for WhatsApp in the Windows Phone Store, a message will appear stating that the item you are looking for cannot be found. When you try to search the app page from your PC, it will show that the app is no longer published on the store.
WPCentral were the first one to discover this thing, and initially there was no explanation of why the app has removed from the Windows Phone Store.
Microsoft later explained that they have intentionally removed its app from the Windows Phone Store as a result of some technical issues, but it is working towards fixing them. However, the company did not disclose any details regarding the issues, but it will resubmit the app once they resolve them.
Microsoft has been quoted saying that “Unfortunately due to technical issues, we have chosen to un-publish WhatsApp Messenger on the Windows Phone platform. We are working closely with Microsoft to resolve the issues and hope to return to the store shortly. We apologize to our users for the temporary inconvenience.”
Other versions of the app are unaffected by these technical issues and users can operate and download it. In other words, only Windows Phone users are impacted by the sudden shutdown.
WhatsApp did not provide any details regarding when the app will again be uploaded on the Windows Phone Store.
