Even though HTC itself hasn’t given any confirmation about it, it is rumored to be launching its flagship smartphone the M7 shortly. However, according to Citigroup analyst Kevin Chang, for those of you waiting to get your hands on the M7, there could be a bit more delay until the launch. Components of the phone like metal casings and antennas are in short supply, which could adversely affect the shipping of the M7 handsets. While initial estimates pegged the Q1 number at 3 million, Chang now expects only 500 million M7 handsets to be shipped during this time.
The M7’s rumored specs do sound quite interesting – with a 4.7-inch full HD display with a massive 468 ppi, a 1.7 GHz quad-core processor and 2 GB of RAM, this would’ve definitely been a worthy contender to the current favorite, the Samsung Galaxy S3. The M7 is also rumored to have an Ultrapixels camera, which would use three 4.3MP layers within a sensor to reproduce color better and capture sharper images.
Many people are hoping that HTC would unveil the M7 during an upcoming press event scheduled on 19 February, 2013. However, if this information about the shortage of components is indeed true, we recommend that those wishing to buy the M7 pre-order it as soon as the offer opens up.
