A month back Ubuntu seemed Utopian to us. However, news now about the open-source operating system coming to smartphones has now been confirmed officially. Come October and the OS from canonical would make way to your smartphone.
One surprise that would only be revealed in October would be the phones that would be compatible with Ubuntu. Just that– we know Samsung Galaxy Nexus would be seamlessly compatible with this OS. It is left to be seen if Ubuntu, that uses Android’s drivers would work on base-level and high-end smartphones with equal élan.
Comp-to-phone sync would be a breeze given that Ubuntu uses native apps. It also comes with swipe action compatibility.
For now we keep waiting for Ubuntu to pick its partner carrier. Canonical and its choice—the world waits to welcome you.
