Promoted by Sydney-based Foyster Media, the website has won the Australian IT Journalism Awards for 2015 as well as 2014 for the categories ‘Best Website’ and ‘Best Independent Media Categories’ respectively. In 2013, they also won in the ‘Innovation’ Category at the Australian Web Awards.

Set up for women engineers who want to build a career for themselves, this is a non-profit organisation for women with an effective blog. With their CODE Review Newsletter, they feature success stories of women who are making their way through the labyrinth of the corporate tech world. Functioning as a conglomerate of more than 100,000 members, they have engineers, solutions architects, consultants and students on board. Members working in the data science and design aspects are lesser but we hope to see more of that as more women take up these meaty jobs in the future.

Started in 2011, Google decided to give them a $2.8M space within their New York headquarters. Recently, Black Girls Code also moved their programming project to a permanent Chelsea space, which has also been donated by Google.
