While the pandemic is far from over, economic activities have somewhat resumed to normal including car sells. The list of best-selling cars in India is also out for September 2020. Interestingly, a common trend to note is the dominance of Maruti Suzuki cars on the top-selling charts.

Maruti Suzuki Swift
Repeating its August glory, Maruti Suzuki Swift has retained the No. 1 rank among the best selling cars in India yet again in September 2020. Notably, at a time when many car models are struggling to reach 10K monthly sales, Third-gen Swift hatchback registered sales reached a remarkable 22,643 sales in the past month.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno
September 2020 has been a month of Maruti Suzuki cars. Interestingly, its Maruti Suzuki Baleno car model which was placed at the sixth position in August booked the second spot in September 2020 sales. Baleno had just sold 11,420 units in September 2019 but went on to rather register a total of 19,433 sales in September 2020.

Maruti Suzuki Alto
You would be surprised to know but that classic car from your childhood days, Maruti Suzuki Alto with its more improved models have managed to get itself a decent place on the top-selling charts of the year 2020. Notably, the car also registered a sales growth of up to 21% in September 2020 as compared to the sales in 2019. It had sold 15,079 car models in September 2019 but sold 18,246 units in September this year.
Maruti Suzuki WagonR
Yet another Maruti Suzuki car on the list, the fourth best-selling car in India in September 2020 was the Maruti Suzuki WagonR. WagonR recorded a sale of 17,581 units in the past month. While it has dropped a spot from its earlier August 2020 position, it still reported a growth of around 50% from its respective sales in 2019.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire
Often referred to as the compact sedan, Maruti Suzuki Dzire has also made to top-selling cars of the country for the last month sales. However, it has also witnessed a sales reduction by 11% if we compare its September 2019 and 2020 sales. While it registered a sale of 13,988 units in the last month, it had sold 15,662 units back in September 2019.
Hyundai Creta
First non-Maruti car on the charts, sixth among the top-selling cars of September 2020 is the Hyundai Creta. The popular Hyundai car is reportedly one of the best-selling SUVs in the country and recorded a sale of 12,325 units in September 2020. Notably, it is a record 82% jump from its meagre sales of just 6,641 units back in September 2019.

Maruti Suzuki Eeco
Maruti Suzuki Eeco which had just managed to win the tenth spot in August 2020 has jumped to the seventh rank in September charts. It registered a sale of 9,982 units in September 2020 recording a 59% rise from September 2019.
Hyundai Grand i10
With an 11% rise from September 2019 sales, Hyundai Grand i10 registered a total sale of 10,385 units in September 2020. However, interestingly, Grand i10 has steadily retained the eighth spot among the best selling cars in India last month as well.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga sold 11,220 units booking the ninth spot among best-selling cars of September 2020 in the Indian market. Moreover, the number was also a 13% rise from its sale of 9,949 units in September 2019.
Hyundai i20 Elite
Last on the list of top 10 best-selling cars in India in September 2020 was the Hyundai i20 Elite model. However, if we compare it to its figures in the year 2019, there was a decline of 3% in its September sales. Hyundai i20 Elite sold 10,141 units in September last year but registered sale of only 9,852 units in September this year.
Going by the above list, even as automobile sales continue to be hit by the slowed economy and declining GDP, Maruti Suzuki remains one of the top gainers. Notably, 7 out of a total of top 10 best-selling cars in India in September 2020 are Maruti Suzuki cars.
