If the current rumors of slow death of Apple are something to go by then Apple’s lack of innovation is something to blame. But Kantar Worldpanel ComTech statistics has a new story to tell about the Apple’s market position. On Tuesday the firm released report which showed Android is still far away from swallowing Apple. Till December 23, 2012 there were 51.2 % people in US who purchased Apple iPhone which was a 7% raise from last year’s 44%.
Last year even Blackberry just got 1.1. % market share down sharply from the 6.1% the Canadian firm owned in 2011. On the other hand Windows phone saw a rise from 2.2% to 2.6% over the year.
Last year 19% Android owners shifted to Apple iPhone 5 and 4 as compared to 9% of 2011
As per the data revealed at Verizon wh49% of iOS sales came from users of another platform, 30% of them coming from Android. 58.8% of Verizon customers were iOS users in the 2012 period, up sharply from 47.4% in last year. Verizon’s Android users dropped from a leading 47.5% in 2011 to 38.5% in the last weeks of 2012.
The data has been pulled from 250,000 interviews that Kantar Worldpanel conducts yearly in the U.S. to judge the behavior of mobile phone buyers.
