The much awaited Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch is finally here and no, it does not have a bendable screen like some expected due to certain patents that Samsung has filed. The Galaxy Gear has a sleek black face that can be paired with an option of six different strap colours. It also has one single button on the top of the device and a 1.9MP camera embedded in the strap.
There is no doubt that the Galaxy Gear is a great device. It has a 1.63 inch touch screen that stays black until turned on. The Galaxy Gear has to be paired with another Samsung Bluetooth enabled device – only later models of Samsung smartphones will work. It supports a Facebook and Twitter app for now, with more certainly to come. It also can show you the time and give you a gentle buzz to warn of messages and e-mails. You can preview these messages and also read entire e-mails, Samsung maintains that it will be possible to compose mails using the dictation tool. The Galaxy Gear has a speakerphone in it meaning that you won’t need to take out your phone to make a call.
There is on niggling problem with the Galaxy Gear as of now, it is very demanding of its battery supply. The Galaxy Gear will need to be charged at least once a day if not more.
