Ubisoft has extended the date of Rainbow Six Siege’s closed beta till October 1. Given that the beta version of the game has received popularity and server stability, this is a good move.

Chase Straight Community Developer stated on Ubisoft forums that there have been few issues reported but they are working to do away with these as soon as possible.

More scoop on the beta version

Access The Closed Beta Version For Rainbow Six SiegeLaunched over the weekend, the beta run did see gamers complaining because they did not get access codes despite pre-ordering this game. Straight recently said that this has also been resolved.

Say No To Solo

More scoop from Rainbow Six News has revealed that this game will no longer have a solo player mode. Art director Scott Michell has said that the game will not have a story mode in the real sense of the term. He has further clarified that players will receive training where they can experience various operators with their devices.

You may choose to play against Al, the enemy in co-op mode across the maps or even personalize matches. The Star, Renown and similarly laced point system will still be relevant.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Available Starting Today on Xbox Live Marketplace

As 2012 drew to a close, gamers all over the world got a wonderful new year treat in the form of Far Cry 3. And now, after sending out teasers for the past one month, Ubisoft will finally release its much awaited FPS Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon on the XBL Marketplace. The launch trailer of the game sure looks exciting, and we’re sure the game will be even better.

The game is based on Sergeant Rex Power Colt, a cyborg soldier, who lands on a remote island trying to save the world from the clutches of an evil madman. Hollywood’s Michael Biehn stars as the lead player in the game.

Its theme is reminiscent of the 80s – taking inspiration from the action movies, cartoons and the overall culture of this period. To win the game, players have to hunt animals and demolish camps of the enemy using a wide range of weapons in their arsenal. But in this version of the game, the animals take on the form of cyborgs and the enemy’s encampments have green forcefields which can be destroyed using laser weapons.

And of course, the game features Blood Dragons as a double edged sword – players need to protect themselves against them but can also use them to take down the cyborgs. As of now the game can only be downloaded digitally on PCs, PS3s, and Xbox 360 consoles.

GTA 5, XCOM, Mass Effect 3 & Dishonored: The Race For Top 10 Games Of 2012

mass effect extended cut

The year is drawing to a close and it is time to pick the top list of games which have rattled us in the past one year. Has action or sci-fi dominated yet again, one finds out…

In a week’s time we would be entering the New Year and having survived the apocalypse, it sure is time for some celebrations. And if you want to take the New Year weekend with some gaming action, there is a short list of favorite picks which can make the ride more enjoyable. Now to begin the charts, I will pick one of the much discussed games of 2012 :

10. Spelunky

The game is a bit addictive and takes you back in time. It is a master stroke in terms of its effortless game play across the board. Developed by Derek Yu, it is one of the true arcade ventures of this year with its random levels and underground tunnels just to keep you engaged for a while.

9. Far Cry 3

For those who love some insanity driven into their stories, Ubisoft’s Far Cry 3 offers an unpredictable situation and figuring your way out of a mess of sorts. Its multiplayer may be weak link but its superior graphics and gripping play make up for the rest.

8. The Walking Dead

The initiative of Telltale Games does provide one with a cool set of interesting scenarios involving the zombies and though I would have wished to see a Resident Evil in the lineup, the new games are offering a much more interactive and interesting content for the gamers. The graphics are really impressive and a good test of your survival abilities overall.

7. Sleeping Dogs

In the absence of a genuine GTA on the charts, Sleeping Dogs can make it up the list for now. The unique setting ofHong Kongand all the elements that result in a well-defined potpourri of adventurous game play.

6. Borderlands 2

It would be a good pick just for the sheer weapons range offered through the course and of course, the point of garnering loot across the board. The options are limitless and the characters straight out of a graphical comic book.

5. Journey

It is ironical that halfway through the list, the Sony-backed Journey forms the leader of the light – pun intended. The tremendous ride by the solitary figure in the game is nothing short of a revelation for many gamers. A way for the unusual and abstract.

4. Gravity Rush

Another comic book venture which can keep the pulses running and with a female protagonist it does prove to be the next level. The lead character Kat can control gravity and it has one of the best game play of the lot.

3. Dishonored

One of the best FPS games of this year, the Arkane Studios game has all the intrigues to keep the user plugged in for longer durations. As a one-man army with a dedicated mission, you are out to annihilate your opponents, thinking on your feet, all the time.

2. Mass Effect 3

BioWare has gathered many reviews with its final installment of the Mass Effect series. And just like its predecessors, the game has been topping charts with its unique narrative and engaging game play. Even though, the finale to the game was much debated, its quality remains unmatched across the board.

1. XCOM: Enemy Unknown

Now, coming down to the last two slots, I was perplexed to choose between them. But the toppers can only merit on delivering an all round performance and with its polished strategy deliverables, XCOM is ahead of its league. It is a complex game and well crafted for the modern gamer.

And if one was to complete the list, there would be some more favorites on the ride including Darkness II, Dragon’s Dogma, Guild Wars 2, Halo 4, Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Assassin’s Creed 3, among others. For now, one still awaits the arrival of the New Year but do remain connected for the fresh arrivals of the year.… Read the rest

Assassin’s Creed III to be released with bugs; Erudito credits for sale, review scores 10/10!

Ubisoft releases the latest edition of Assassin’s Creed albeit with some bugs in the system which requires a patch on first day. But gamers can satisfy themselves with a high quality product which can deliver the goods…

Fall 2012 is beginning with a bang. There is only a day left for the release of the Ubisoft’s latest ‘Assassin’s Creed III’ which would be garnering a lot of votes this season. The game has already gained the top grades in its review by Xbox 360 Magazine (Italy). The story of the latest assassin, Connor takes place during the American Revolution. Now besides the usual settings of the medieval era, it also features a unique and beautiful scenario of dockyards since Navy was an integral part of the times.

The review gives due credit to the naval battles terming it as one of the most beautiful sequences of all time. It also appreciates the combat systems and extraordinary visual and graphical effects witnessed within the game, terming it as a ‘masterpiece’ in its experience. It also states that the game will remain high on the list of gamer preferences for a long duration. The game will see Connor, a native Indian with British lineage battling adversaries amongst bayonets, cannons and knives during the civil war. Besides the interesting combat options which involve a wide variety of martial arts and parkour moves, gamers will also have their brush with history including stalwarts like Benjamin Franklin along with other heroes from the era.

Ubisoft has meanwhile goofed up on its part, releasing a defective version of the game this time around. Gamers would be receiving games which will require a day 1 patch to play it uninterrupted. The game which is being tried out by gamers is being released with the bug which needs a repair first hand. The gaming company has accepted that the bugs are similar in nature to the ones which were part of the previous editions, it still remains a surprise that the game’s developers missed out on this detail till the last minute. The game play details were leaked online before but it is better to go for the real product although not many spoilers in the game play footage for now. The bugs have not disturbed the game’s popularity as is evident from the game’s top notch reviews.

On the other hand, ‘Meristation’, a Spanish enterprise has given it a score of 8.5/10 but whether this minor disparity will bother gamers is irrelevant for now. Also, the Italian magazine terms it as one of the best games of this generation but it  would be facing its competition in the coming two weeks when Halo 4 and Call of Duty: Black Ops II would be battling it out on consoles as well.

There is also news that gamers can purchase ‘Erudito Credits’ which can unlock a variety of game items in spite of the gaming level. Now, gamers can purchase them directly but can win them across the levels as well. Going by the first round of reviews, the game should maintain the tempo for this season which is going to be one of the most remarkable years for gaming.

GTA 5 May Suffer Due to Delays, But Still May See Through the Day!

Is the delay in releasing a game of the caliber of GTA justified on the part of Rockstar Games? Also in the absence of any information from the company, the game may suffer a setback…

A lot of GTA fans have been really troubled by the number of delays being suffered by its latest edition, GTA 5, which is now being touted to miss its March 2013 release as well. The discovery by an analyst, Colin Sebastian relies heavily on the preparation time required for the marketing and promotion of any particular game. He suggests that since one has ‘not heard anything definitive from the company on release timing’, the delay is predictable. He also adds that ‘retailers typically want 4-6 months lead time to prepare for a launch’ and the launch proceedings should have begun by now considering the ‘March’ deadline.

Now, most of the GTA comments have comes from financial analysts and other agencies related to Rockstar and its operations. But there is hardly any information from the original source themselves. By the way, even the analyst admits that ‘Rockstar rightly prioritizes game quality over release date’ and this in turn, may result in delays. But what is unfathomable is the fact that Rockstar launched its trailer a good year ago and is now backing it up only with a set of screenshots without delving much into the content.

GTA has a rich tradition and an ever growing fan base. It has even caught the attention of actors and politicians alike with Hillary Clinton terming the game’s content as ‘hard to digest’. No other game has ruffled feathers like GTA and still sustained itself in the long run.

But having said that, one cannot negate the fact that the game owes its success to the gamers, who have played it for over a decade. Presently, they have just been left in the dark about the new version and a series of spin-offs from ‘Sleeping Dogs’ and Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs have taken centre stage in this segment. Although, the former has been labeled as aHong Kongversion of the game, the Ubisoft release may gather some considerable numbers and might dent the actual profits of GTA 5.

But the sun is still to set on the Los Santos beach as GTA 5 will still be a formidable release as and when it finds a date for launch. But for all the fire that is burning on different sites regarding the absence of any solid proof about GTA, it still holds fort as a viable discussion on many avenues. The money is on GTA 5 that it will still generate its usual mark but it may reach a new pinnacle if Rockstar actually puts across some valuable information regarding the game.

Yes, in case, you just want to savor the sweet taste of one of its previous versions, then you can always try GTA 3, which has now been recently launched in its PS3 avatar. For others, if there are any, the road is not over yet! Just keep waiting!… Read the rest

Battle of Games: Will GTA 5 Emerge as the Winner?

There are spates of new games, which have been introduced in recent times. Many of them bear resemblance to the ever popular GTA franchise. Will they succeed in upsetting the leader?

The competition between games is heating up and now more and more launches are crowding the dais of modern gaming. Of course, Rockstar Games’ GTA franchise has been able to rule the roost owing to its unique content and ever growing fan base. Besides an exploratory script penned by Dan Houser, the game’s open world offers new avenues to explore shades of a character, who can execute a variety of actions in a fantastical world, which bears resemblance to the gamers’ neighborhood.

Now the game’s unique USP is slowly turning into poison for itself. There have been a couple of games, which have been announced in recent times that take on this franchise in a big manner. The first to hit the deck is Sleeping Dogs, which releases on August 14, 2012. The game set in Hong Kong, has a storyline depicting the life of Wei Shen, who goes undercover to infiltrate the Triads. The game depicts the dilemma of the character that dwindles between shades of black and white while completing out missions one by one. Yes, the resemblance to GTA is apparent and easily the game could be labeled as a Hong Kong take but whether it can dent into the GTA 5 proceedings needs to be seen. The initial reviews of the game are very promising and comparisons are abound, marking that it may have topped off GTA 4 at least for now.

Another promising venture which seems to take off from where GTA has found itself stagnant is the Ubisoft heralded Watch Dogs, which explores the facets brought forth by technology that we see around ourselves. Now, GTA 5 will not be that far away but it has failed to materialize on its strong script to add more innovative options for gamers to try on. Ubisoft, on the other hand, have been reinventing their games and the introduction of ‘Watch Dogs’ at E3 reflected a big challenge to the industry leaders. It features many devices, which are utilized by us on a daily basis and offers unparalleled control over the city in an indirect way making the game play more interesting with each mission. Additionally, the ingenuity of the concept is yet to be explored by the modern gamer, which would be a reason for its sudden popularity.

Some of the facts which are not helping GTA is the lack of information regarding its actual product launch and whether it would deliver anything beyond the trailer, which was released in October 2011. Meanwhile, Sleeping Dogs is garnering positive responses from the gamers and Watch Dogs is expected to boost itself with more revelations in the coming times. But GTA 5 information is yet to be confirmed by any reliable sources with more and more speculations circling the air rather than actual facts. In times like these, disappointment is looming around the actual game, which may finally see the light of the day in 2013. Meanwhile, it is too early to write off the industry legend, which is aiming for sales of over 1.5 billion dollars. For now, it has two formidable opponents which are aiming at its share in the market. It is a ‘dog-eat-dog’ world and it waits to be seen whether GTA will retain its bite!… Read the rest

Ubisoft Fixes Uplay Flaw, Which Could be a Major Security Loophole

Gamers around the world have recently woken up to shocking news regarding their favorite Uplay PC application which left them exposed to a variety of online attacks. The defect can be termed as a ‘rootkit’ which is malicious software (malware) that allows others to run malware on the system which has a rootkit. It is often undetectable and exposes the PC to a variety of attacks.

Hackers often utilize malware to disguise their attacks and steal important information from systems. The flaw was discovered by Tavis Ormandy, an employee of Google, who discovered while setting up the Assassin’s Creed Revelations game on his computer discovered a ‘browser plug-in’ accompanying the ‘Uplay launcher’ which ‘grants unexpectedly wide access to websites’. The fault could enable websites to coerce users who had installed the plug-in to initiate any kind of program on their system.

This flaw could result in information leaks and damages of epic proportions as demonstrated by a security researcher who showed that when a person visited that site, the calculator program was automatically started on the PC. The same defect could have been exploited by many other websites to trace or copy information from the user’s system as well. Ubisoft never accepted the fault as an intentional one and has blamed it as an error. They have acted quickly and generated a patch to repair the fault.

A spokesperson for the company has accepted the error and said that the ‘weakness could allow the application to specify any executable to run, rather than just a game.’ They said that the ‘plug-in had no malicious intent and was not widely exploited.’ Some of the games affected by the error include Assassin’s Creed editions, Just Dance 3, along with titles in the Tom Clancy series. Even the Western-themed FPS game, Call of Juarez editions were also affected by the error. Ubisoft also assured its fans that it takes ‘security issues very seriously’ and will ‘monitor all reports of vulnerabilities’ and ‘take swift action to resolve such issues.’ The error has been detected at an early stage and hence it is expected that the damages would be minimal at this stage.

If you are a user who has installed Uplay on their system, then you can close all browsers opened by the Uplay software and restart it to update it sans the error. You can also visit the Ubisoft website to install the updated version of the same. The replacement of the Uplay version may lead to a loss of achievements and trophies on the system. The error has surfaced at a crucial time when the company is basking in the critical appraisal of its latest launch, Watch Dogs. Now, the concept of the game is all about characters hacking into the system and utilizing it for fulfilling their purpose of finding targets and eliminating them. With such a rootkit discovered in their own software, one wonders whether the gaming company wants to try this technology out for themselves? Anyways, for one, the PC cannot be treated as a personal domain from now on! After all, there are many who are ‘watching’ one’s system now!… Read the rest

Pre-order Perks for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Assassin’s Creed 3; New Revelations in Stores!

The gaming season is beginning as the big names of Fall 2012 come out with their own set of perks to boost up their sales. The latest to join the league is Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed 3…

The games have come a long way from the earlier times when we used to buy simple discs for playing out sequenced formats one after the other. Just like a sale in the Holiday season, every game comes along with a bagful of ‘perks’ and ‘pre-order benefits’ for the gamer. As Fall 2012 approaches, gaming majors have raised their bar for promoting their own brands of the season. Starting off the proceedings, Activision’s Call of Duty series is offering a series of goodies at an additional price of 10 pounds including a Quadrotor drone prop for Xbox 360 players and an entry into the Black Ops 2 Perks Program sweepstake as well. A pre-order before August 5 will make them eligible to win a chance to visit Gamescom. Playstation 3 players can get a Quadrotor theme for themselves as well.

Pre-order benefits also include a Nuketown 2025 map on a 10 pound deposit. There are more to follow and you don’t have to worry if you have already made the pre-order and did not get any of these perks. You just have to shell out an extra 5 pounds to get the required deal. And if you think that your kitty is not yet full, then pick up the Assassin’s Creed III pre-order package through Newegg. You will get a straight 20 per cent discount on the retail price of the game. You can get the game for a cool 47.99 dollars as compared to 59.99 dollars offered by the manufacturer. Do remember to enter “EMCYTZT1964” as the promo code to get the discount. The game would have a release date of October 30, 2012 and besides the usual perk, Ubisoft is also planning to also promote a ‘post launch episodic content’ which is expected to the top of the line DLC, which is expected to ‘set the bar’ in the gaming industry.

Ubisoft, which is gaining a lot of publicity owing to its latest enterprise ‘Watch Dogs’ is now expected to give tough competition to its contemporaries with Assassin’s Creed III. The ‘Season Pass’ is another feature that is going to be part of this edition, which has lead to speculations that the game would be augmented through a series of DLC releases. This is expected to commence soon. The game has progressed nicely and its latest edition is expected to make the battleground tougher for established enterprises such as Red Dead Redemption as well. Ubisoft seems to picking up well on the ‘trail’ of other gaming majors and catching up on favorites such as Rockstar Games. But as the season begins, more pre-order goodies are being announced every day and as long as the ‘perks’ keep on increasing, I am not complaining! After all, these just keep the gaming clime more ‘perkier’!… Read the rest
