Sony Xperia Z Ultra Specs, Features Confusing: Tablet, Phablet or Phone?

Sony Xperia Z1 CompactOkay, we won’t answer that question, but let you decide what the Sony Xperia Z Ultra really is! Maybe reading a bit about it here and more importantly going into a store and looking at it would help you come up with an appropriate answer.

The good! With a 6.4-inch Full HD screen, the Sony Xperia Z Ultra is huge and sleek, almost like a slab of black marble. Extra brownie points for it being waterproof too! The aluminium frame and the all-glass front makes it all the more sturdy and reliable. On the performance front, there are no complaints, thanks to the 2.2GHz quad-core Krait 400 Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. The screen with its vibrant colours is sharp even at obtuse angles making it perhaps one of the best portable movie players ever.

And the not so good! The looks of the otherwise premium Sony Xperia Z Ultra are marred by the plastic flaps that cover the micro USB port, the SIM and the memory card slots. More importantly, they don’t seal back tightly with usage that puts the waterproof feature at a high risk. Another disappointing bit is the battery life which is just around 11 hours. The worst part of this device though is the camera that lacks a flash, which is quite flabbergasting for something that costs a bomb. Added to this is that the amera functions well in the daylight but not in the dark when it fails to focus properly.

Should you buy it? If you are hell bent on buying something that is big in size, go ahead and buy the Sony Xperia Ultra Z but only after looking at it in a store and keeping in mind the cheap flaps on the side, below-average battery life and a shoddy camera. Remember caveat emptor applies here…very strongly!Read the rest

June Date Set For Samsung Vs Apple Vs Sony Combat- Apple iPad 5 Release To Baffle Samsung Galaxy Grand And Sony Xperia Z Fans,

The Apple has ripened earlier than you thought. We have news from reliable sources that the iPad 5 is set to arrive in all grandeur this June 18. And come June 27—you could get to visualize the iPad 5 releasing for the consumer market.

To add fuel to this rumor is a set of internet images of iPad 5 cases in pastel shades doing the rounds. At a time when I almost forget to bite on the Apple with Samsung Galaxy Grand and Sony Xperia Z cajoling me to double date, the iPad 5 might just make me go back to my first love Apple. With a super large screen in 9.7 inches and a tines and trim look, the iPad 5 could be the winning card to enhance Apple’s stakes. The sheen I catch emanating from the upcoming iPad hints at aluminum on its rear.

The blog post that leaked the June date goes, “The upcoming iPad 5 (green mould) which won’t even be announced until a media event on the 18th June.  If you’re wondering when the iPad 5 is also set for sale, then you’ve visited the right place. Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 In The Ring With Samsung Galaxy Note 2- The Winner Emerges Shaken Not Stirred

The Sony Xperia Z almost managed to end my from my Samsung Galaxy fixation  but before it got too late, the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 jolted me back into senses. Just when I thought that I must switch camps, Samsung stirred such a cocktail that shook me up. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 was not up to my expectations– here is a faceoff between the two titans that Samsung has already crowned as darlings.

Opening magic – A quick look at the Galaxy Mega 6.3 and I knew that a winner was in my hands. The 6.3-inch screen size is one good reason that catapults the Mega to a rank higher than the Galaxy Note 2. At 5.5 inches, the Note 2 fails to look into Mega’s eyes. The PLS HD display in the Mega 6.3 further hogs the limelight beating Galaxy Note’s HD Super AMOLED display in Round I of the face off.

Still waters run dip—admittedly, the Samsung Mega 6.3 failed to catch my eye over the Galaxy Note 2 initially. However, now that I know that the Mega spits fire with a 1.7GHz dual-core processor I weighed the Note 2 in Round II of the face off. Sadly, the Note 2 spits fireballs with its 1.6 GHz Exynos Quad-core processor.

Box space decides the boxing champ – The fair face off ends with Round III—the storage space on both Galaxy babies combat with each other for final glory. Despite all my silent prayers to crown the Galaxy Mega as winner, it falters at the final round with its 1.5 GB RAM. Come what may, the Mega 6.3 would have 8 GB or 16 GB internal box space. The Galaxy Note 2 wins hands down with its 16 GB and 32 GB box options.… Read the rest
