Is Google Working on Nexus Version of HTC One? Is It In Competition With LG Nexus 5?

Recently in the news were rumors of Google working on a Nexus version of HTC’s flagship smartphone; the One. Now certain reports speculate that the Google Edition HTC One will hit the shelves in exceptionally small numbers.

The Taiwanese firm is planning to opt for a limited run because several features on the HTC One are included into HTC Sense 5, the custom skin HTC runs on top of Android, and some of those features will not run on stock Android. However, HTC would also want to double the production process of its own flagship smartphone instead of focusing on the Google Edition.

HTC announced selling around 5 million HTC One units since its launch due to delay in the launch and shortage of devices. Currently, the T-Mobile HTC One is available only in selected stores due to unavailability.

As per sources, HTC wants a trial run for the Android version of it’s the One to see how the device does in sales and therefore will offer around 1 per cent of total sales of the smartphone so far. In case that’s true, HTC would launch only around 50,000 units of the Android-based One smartphone.

However, nothing official has been announced as yet.

Samsung Plans For Samsung Galaxy S III ‘Mini’: Rumor

Smaller version of Galaxy sIII specualtedFollowing the speculations of iPad Mini, the latest going on in the rumor mill is the report of Samsung planning to launch a smaller version of its latest 4.8-inch Galaxy S III.

Starting off in the Korean manufacturer’s German branch, there are reports that Samsung has sent out press invitations slated for October 11 for something that as per Google Translate means, “That’s how large and small can be”.

However, on being asked to comment, Samsung refused to say anything.

This smaller version is believed to have a 4-inch display, with a 5 MP camera. It might also be cheaper than Apple’s iPhone 5.

Samsung recently paid Apple $1 billion in damages on claims of patents’ infringement. But that’s clearly not stopping the Korean maker from coming up with innovative devices.

In the first quarter of this year, Samsung bagged the top spot and shipped around 93.8 million devices.

Between May and August, the Korean maker had 25.7 percent share in the US smartphone market, while Apple has ticked up 2.1 percent, before its iPhone 5 hit the market.

Currently, Samsung and Apple are fighting in court in various countries all over the world.

According to a court filing, the firm is challenging the jury’s decision made in August because, the company says, Velvin Hogan, jury foreman did not disclose he had filed for bankruptcy in 1993 and had been involved in a lawsuit with his former employer, Seagate.

So in case the speculations are true, will you be waiting to bag a smaller Galaxy S III? Share your comments with us.… Read the rest

Personal Messages Not So Personal On Facebook Anymore: Claims A French Newspaper

Facebook keeps on changing its privacy norms to offer users the best services. But certain speculations have come round the corner claiming that the social networking site has made private messages of millions of users, public on its Timeline feature.

The report was first published in Metro, a French newspaper and was later picked up by other tech sites. Well, on being looked into the matter, the rumors seem to be untrue.

Facebook cleared its stake, went back and checked the messages. The social giant said that the much-talked about Timeline messages are actually old wall posts, and even if there’s private information, these messages have been there the entire time. Facebook said the confusion could have been created as there was no option to like or comment on a single wall post before 2009.

However, this denial by Facebook has not been accepted by some users, who claim that the social networking site has made their private messages public.

The speculation is surrounding years from 2007 to 2009, when Facebook had just launched. And the latest timeline in 2012 makes it easy for users to browse old posts according to the year, which also lets them see each other’s old posts.

However, those concerned about old posts, can restrict access to them. Just follow the instructions on Facebook privacy settings.

Rumors have always clouded Facebook’s privacy norms. Earlier also in Dec. 2011, a Finnish publication posted the same warnings on the same feature, which later got picked by other tech sites, which also later turned out to be untrue.… Read the rest
