Mock-up Pics of ‘iPad Mini’ Hit the Web

As Apple always stays tight-lipped about its new releases, the secretive nature makes it surface around a range of rumors.

Just a day prior to Apple’s big press event, alleged mock-up pictures of an iPad Mini hit the web via a Chinese website DGtle.com. We checked with the Chinese site but they have taken down the pictures, which were later published by a French site, Nowhereelse.fr.

This latest one in the Apple rumor mill depicts mocking pictures of a mini version of the firm’s famous iPad.

It still stays unclear whether these pics are of iPad Mini or are just another one in the league of rumors.

Another rumor, which has been going on for long is that iPad Mini is supposed to be released later this year in October.

Looking at the pics, the iPad Mini looks like a 7-inch model, which is same as the Galaxy, Google Nexus and the Kindle Fire.

With this mini version, Apple hopes to widen its base in the tablet market as its competitors offer tabs with almost similar features at a lower price.

The 7.85” iPad on its Way, Will Cost Less Too

A report from New York Times revealed that Apple is planning on developing a smaller iPad, 7.85 inch to be precise.

Though nothing more than that of confirmation of size of the iPad was disclosed in the report, but it also mentioned that the company may have been working on the project since mid-2000’s. However, nothing much could be materialized of the idea as Apple’s late co-founder Steve Jobs found it too small. As a matter of fact Steves also questioned the man behind the idea whether the device would be useful for anything besides “surfing the Web in the bathroom.”

The report also suggested that may be Jobs had not liked the idea of smaller iPad in the past but keeping in mind today’s requirement Apple as a company is planning to this idea into reality. Furthermore, there is pressure from competitors such as Google and Amazon who have already launched smaller tablets.

Analyst Horace Deidu on the new smaller iPad said that the device should be better known as large iPod Touch rather than small iPad. He made the statement keeping in mind the composition of smaller tablets from Amazon and Kindle Fire. Deidu also said that though it will be difficult to type on the smaller tablet but these can especially be useful when travelling. Furthermore, these can be a suitable option for reading and watching videos on the go.

Rumors have it that the smaller iPad from Apple may be announce somewhere around October.

However, Apple fans are really excited with the idea of having a smaller iPad. But at the same time there are other companies that have already stepped in the market with their miniatures. For instance Microsoft has already announced its Surface tablet and Amazon too is expected to release its Kindle Fire 2 soon.

But at the same time experts are of the view that with or without its small iPad Apple is expected to have a much strong hold in the market in comparison to its competitors.… Read the rest
