A Microsoft mobile subsidiary, Nokia India Sales Pvt. Ltd. finally launched the Lumia 540-Dual SIM on Wednesday. This variant had been long awaited and is also the sixth Lumia phone to be released in the Indian market in the past half year or so, according to T.S. Sridhar, the Director of the southern zone of Nokia India.
At the event for briefing, Sridhar also commented that the Lumia handsets accounted for massive business across retail segments in India. Currently Nokia India has 8,872 stores and 119 service centers in the country.
This does not take into account the 441 Microsoft Priority Re-sellers that had formerly been Nokia official outlets. The exclusive bit about these stores is the ‘Touch and Feel’ on offer for customers. South India stores.
The Director also added, “We have always seen Hyderabad as a retail experience provider and that is why 13 of these priority stores are located in Hyderabad and 16 more across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.” He added how smartphones between the Rs. 4,000 and Rs. 12,000 price range sold the highest. It seems Microsoft is aiming to get a strong hold in the Indian market by launching budget friendly smartphones in a quick succession. According to Tech Radar reports, Lumia 540, which is priced at Rs.10,199 is scheduled to be on shelves from May 18 onward and will boast some of the high-end features. The upcoming handset which has been enameled using poly-carbonate plastic finishing clearly resembles the look of the previous Lumia smartphones.

Microsoft is all set to release Lumia 540 Dual in India on April 30, 2015.
Certain media houses have been invited officially by the company to attend the release event of Lumia 540. The invitation reads: “Microsoft cordially invites you all to attend the launch of affordable smartphone in India.”
It features Snapdragon quad core 200 series System on chip (SoC) and runs on Microsoft Windows 8.0 operating system. The smartphone sports HD display screen of 5.0 inches, which is good enough for a budget device. As far as the phone memory is concerned, it is backed with in built memory of 8 GB and 1 GB RAM. With amazing 2200 mAh battery the phone will work for 24 days on backup mode.
A press statement was released on April 15, during the launch that confirmed the price of the new Microsoft Lumia 540 Dual. The expected price will be $149 (approximately Rs 9300). However, after seeing the custom duties and exchange rate of rupees, this new budget smartphone will cost Rs 10,000.
