iPhone 5 To Arrive In India On October 26th, For The Price Of Rs 44,500?

iPhone 5 coming to India Oct 16th The latest buzz around Apple suggests that the wait is finally going to be over for iPhone fans in India. Apple launched its latest iPhone 5 in the US and several other countries last month in September. Now the device is expected to hit the shelves in the Indian stores on October 26th.

Although, no official announcement has been made by Apple, yet latest rumors suggest that the Cupertino Calif.-based firm is rolling the device towards the Indian market soon.

A report by BGR India says, “Apple is preparing to launch the iPhone 5 in India on the last Friday of this month, which happens to be October 26”.

The site also indicates that Apple will distribute its latest device via Apple Stores instead of teaming up with other Indian carriers.

If rumors are to be believed, the iPhone 5 will cost around ₹44,500 for the 16GB version, same as what 4S was launched with. Apple has already slashed down the prices of iPhone 4S and 4, prior to the launch of iPhone 5.

However, online shopping sites such as eBay are selling the device in the country at a price as high as ₹1,00,000 for the 64GB model.… Read the rest

Hands On iPhone5: It Was Almost Like Bumping Into My Superhero From The Big Screen

Writing about iPhone 5 last few weeks was fun and laying hands on the actual device was even better. It was almost like bumping into my superhero from the big screen. Standing in the long queue was totally worth it!

To start, not only could I relate my writings with the device, but it also sounded a lot more familiar.

Also I was smiling and was happy about joining the league of proud owners of an iPhone 5 with the latest iOS 6.

So, for those who stayed unsuccessful in grabbing the device the day-one, I could help solve the mystery by listing down some of the answers to your questions.

The world’s long-awaited iPhone 5 is surely a lot thinner, lighter, and brighter. Apple gave birth to A6 chip in its latest offering. The firm heavily marketed claiming iPhone 5 to be faster than the iPhone 4S. I kept both the phones on the same wavelength and tapped on to download the same data on the same Wi-Fi. And my latest iPhone 5 did download the webpage few seconds faster than the 4S. So the iPhone 5 surely stays ahead of 4S in terms of speed boost.

The only shortcome this phone got is in its new mapping app, which replaces the Google Maps. But that is okay for me as I don’t really rely much on maps apps.

Watching videos on iPhone 5 is also a lot clearer and smoother. Swapping in between apps is also quick and instant in it. The glass at the front looks strong, though the device is light. Apple claims it to be scratch resistant and I am hoping it will be durable as many users out there have already taken the drop test. I didn’t really try the drop test. Well, to be honest- couldn’t!

The phone has aluminum encasing, which does look prone to scratches as it makes the phone too light. So, I suggest it’s better to get a stylish cover that goes well with the device.

The 4-inch screen looks slightly bigger than the 4S’s 3.5-inch display. The display till the edges does give it a bigger look. But that doesn’t compromise on the comfort level. The phone has a good grip and is easy to balance.

Features such as enhanced camera and better handling of apps do make iPhone 5 a better choice. And about the new lighting connector that came along, it is definitely smaller, but doesn’t really charge the device any faster. Both the 4S and iPhone 5 took the same time to fully charge. The only thing that I liked about this charger was that it could be used upside-down.

One another notable difference, which I am sure all users will notice, is the quality or clarity of voice while making calls. The iPhone 5 got a very good speaker clarity, which is detectable while making calls, watching videos or listening to music.

This phone is surely a sleeker and smarter choice than its predecessor- the 4S.

Should I Buy iPhone 5 If I have iPhone 4S?

As the world goes gaga over Apple’s sixth next-gen smartphone iPhone 5, I simply look down at my iPhone 4S and wonder if it’s time for a switch!

Although the iPhone 5 is super-cool, it’s lighter, thinner, smarter, updated, bigger and most important for me- it’s the latest, the decision is quite tough. Well, to state it simply, iPhone 5 is leaps and bounds better than any phone Apple has ever launched.

Yes, just like many of you, I too agree that 4S is no slouch and has many features same as 5, but what about the screen size or the revamped Siri? Well, from the perspective of watching videos or playing ‘Angry Birds’ or ‘Temple Run’, I don’t mind a bigger screen.

But is considering the screen size enough to break the old contract with 4S and shell extra bucks to bag the iPhone 5?

Let’s take a look at what Apple has played with in its latest iPhone 5. Then we can decide if it’s worth to get the upgrade….

We can start with the screen size, the focused and much obvious concern of many. Apple has added an extra inch to the screen size of its iPhone 5, which sports a larger 4-inch diagonal screen as compared to 4S, which has a 3.5-inch screen. This mean the latest Apple phone will support a fifth row of icons on every screen. And while the screen of iPhone 5 has got bigger, the phone has got lighter and thinner. For this iPhone 5 surely gets a (+). Made of sleek glass and aluminum, this phone is 7.8mm in thickness, has 12 percent less volume, is 18 percent thinner than 4S and weighs 112grams, which makes it 20 percent lighter than iPhone 4S. Tempting, huh!

And then along with a larger display, iPhone 5 also has a larger Retina display, with 18 percent more pixels for 1136-by-640 resolution as compared to 4S. Imagine what fun it would be to watch HD videos on iPhone 5, which has 44 percent greater color saturation than before, meaning better and better clarity.

Then there is the updated intelligent assistant- Siri, who’s just like a personal assistant. Siri is revamped in iPhone 5 and is just the answer to sports scores and stats, where to eat, what movies to see or can even be asked to make Facebook posts or post tweets.

Another plus point in iPhone 5 is 4G LTE, which is fastest data network in the world. Considering this, I was okay with iPhone 4S 3G as 4G wasn’t there when iPhone 4S came out in India.

But one disappointing feature in 4S is the battery life, which is almost same in the iPhone 5 too, same eight hours of LTE browsing and talk time. But iPhone 5 can browse the Web for ten hours instead of eight.

The new iPhone also comes with ‘EarPods’, which is something I didn’t get with 4S. The former will be a treat for music lovers as it has three microphones- at front, back, and bottom. The iPhone 4S has just one at the bottom.

Also those who buy the new iPhone 5, will get a lightning, small, smart, durable, and reversible connector, which will replace the huge 30-pin connector we got with 4S.

Apple has also replaced the processor from A5 in 4S to A6 chip in iPhone 5, which is twice as faster and even spares the battery life.

The camera in both the phone is same with 8-megpixel, so you don’t have to think on that front.

Considering all pros and cons, I guess the decision is going to be really tough for a jump to iPhone 5, especially for those, whose contract with iPhone 4S is still not over. Both the phones are equally great though 5 gets more points than 4S. Why won’t it? Who doesn’t like faster downloads, latest technical updates and bigger screen!

But in case you have iPhone 4, trust me you need to change. In tech terms, your phone is ancient. Switch to iPhone 5. And those of us with iPhone 4S, can also go for iPhone 5, I guess. We can always sell our 4S and might just get a good offer price too! That’s worth joining the league of proud iPhone 5 owners.… Read the rest

Walmart Just Slashed $40 Off iPhone 4S in Anticipation Of iPhone 5!

Don’t we just love Apple for slashing down the prices of its already-launched iPhones and iPads ahead the launch of its latest versions! For those of us looking to join the league of proud owners of Apple devices, Walmart has some good news to offer.

The popular retain chain has just announced on its Facebook page a significant drop of $40 on the stock of Apple iPhone 4S. Isn’t that great news, considering only those of us who don’t really mind even if our new Apple phone is 4S and not the much anticipated iPhone 5?

This strategy of Apple to lower down the prices of its old models seems to have worked for majority of us, who are hoping to get a chance to line up outside Walmart to grab it in the first go. The offer is currently on all stocks of iPhone 4S, the 16GB model.

Here is what, the retail store has mentioned on Facebook….

Amazing savings alert–starting on 8/23 at 9am local time, the iPhone 4S (16G) will drop to $148, down from $188!

Select stores, AT&T, Sprint and Verizon customers, while supplies last, restrictions apply.

Got to see it to believe it? Here is the link…. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151138093219236&set=a.385715789235.163710.159616034235&type=1&permPage=1

As mentioned on Facebook, Walmart has made the offer valid with a new two-year contract or a qualifying upgrade.

This reduction by Walmart is just one of the many iPhone 4/4S clearance sales of sorts that we have seen earlier also, being done by retailers and carriers, with the launch of the next-generation iPhone 5, which is expected to be out on Sep. 21.

Also worth mentioning is the fact that this offer is applied just few days after Walmart offered a discount of $20 on its stock of $100 iTunes electronic gift cards.

The news has been a hit on Facebook and got as many as 13,516 likes so far. So let’s just see who will queue up outside Walmart to avail the offer to get iPhone 4S in the bag.

Are you planning to grab this advantage? But, amid speculation let’s not forget September is not far.. And we need not tell anyone why that’s important as we all know iPhone 5 is just a few weeks away….… Read the rest

iPhone 5 Coming on September 21?

It is coming. Get Ready. Apple is reportedly set to make the most awaited launch of this year, the launch of iPhone 5, scheduled on September 21. The reports have flown directly from the nest of iMore, which have claimed that the source from where the information has come has “proven accurate in the past”.

The reports for the iPhone 5 and the new iPad has been building up for quite a while and it was expected that that both Apple products will be hitting the shelves later this year but it seems that iPhone and iOS6 would arrive a bit earlier than expected.

As pointed by Gigaom, Apple does only one upgrade in a year but this time it is  just after 11 months of release of iPhone 4S that Apple may put the new model in store. Moreover, iPad Mini, which is going to be a significant addition to the company’s product line up, may release after 6 months of the recent iPad update, this would be something which Apple has not done before. However, the early launch of iPad Mini would put Apple in a better position against its competitors, including Google, Microsoft and Amazon who are ruling the 7 inch tablet market for now.

iMore’s report says iOS 6 would be given a final presentation on September 12, and be released as a software update a week later, which would be September 19.

Though Apple SVP of iOS Software Scott Forstall said at WWDC in June that iOS 6 will be released “sometime this fall.” And if seen logically fall doesn’t began from September 22 but yes Apple is allowed to change its mind especially after its products sale has slowed down.

And if Apple delivers iPhone 5 this September then it would get itself many customers who are waiting to upgrade their phone. Apple is also going to earn major benefit from the quarterly release of iPad as it will fetch more profits.

In the words of Washington Post, timing the launch at the end of its fiscal fourth quarter would be one way to avoid repeating what happened in its fiscal fourth quarter last year – and again in its fiscal third, reported last week — with Apple seeing its iPhones sales dip while customers wait until October for a new iPhone. Even a late-in-the-quarter release (the quarter ends Sept. 30), would result in one of the company’s typically insane launch weekend numbers press releases, which would be encouraging to investors.

And there is no doubt that a kind of company which Apple is, futuristic in its approach, it will by no means take Wall Street concerns lightly especially under the leadership of Tim Cook.… Read the rest
