Google Nexus 5: Top 5 Things You Will Hate About Android 4.4 KitKat Phone

5 is the newest flagship device from the search giant. It has been launched amidst much hype and speculation. Though the Google Nexus 5 ticks all the boxes, there are still some things that leave potential users disappointed. The Google Nexus 5 is the newest flagship device from the search giant. It has been launched amidst much hype and speculation. Though the Google Nexus 5 ticks all the boxes, there are still some things that leave potential users disappointed.

The Exchange email application on the Nexus 5 could have done with much improvement. As opposed as the HTC’s Exchange application, the Exchange app on the Nexus 5 resembles the Gmail app. However, it does even feature conversation view.

On the Nexus 5, there are two ‘speaker’ fence openings at the base of the device. However, the speaker is found in only one grille and the speaker quality is not impressive.  On the contrary, HTC has two excellent stereo speakers found on the front and they offer incredible sound.

The phone contacts on the Google Nexus 5 do not sync with other profiles of the contact. For instance, if the contact has not created a Google account, then the photo will not load for the contact. On the other hand, on a device like HTC One, the contact’s photos are easily tied to other social network services so each contact easily gets a contact image.

Also the camera UI offered in this Android device is quite basic and sometimes, frustrating to use as you are swiping up and browsing the options. Also, what makes the camera even more difficult to use is that it takes a long time at focusing and subjects like pets and small kids look blurry and hazy as they will not stay stable for a long time.

On the Nexus 5, the My Google Now panel is hardly of any use even though one is using Chrome. Though the My Google Now panel offers some useful information, but it does not qualify as a critical feature.

With the Moto G handset set to release today across the globe, here’s the specs comparison viz-a-viz the newly released Google Nexus 5:

  • DISPLAY: The Nexus 5 with a 5-inch screen and 1080p HD display is very good for viewing, whereas the Moto G offers 4.5-inch screen with 720p display. Nexus 5 wins over Moto G as far as display is concerned, but the latter still offers good HD viewing than many phones in similar price range.
  • Performance: Moto G boasts of a robust and powerful quad-core Snapdragon microprocessor chip with 1.2GHz speed. Not that great, but decent experience for Moto G users. When it comes to Nexus 5, again, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 2.3GHz speed, 2GB of RAM  and Adreno 30 GPU makes it a far better device in terms of performance. One thing has to be noted though, Nexus 5 battery capacity won’t be as good as that in Moto G thanks to the powerful hardware in Nexus 5.
  • Storage Capacity: Moto G handset will offer 8GB of internal flash storage capacity. It remains to be seen whether the storage can be expanded. Nexus 5 has been released in 16GB and 32GB variants, with no feature of expandable storage.
  • Price: Moto G is being viewed as a budget device in US, UK and Indian markets, with its price being decent for a mid-range phone. Around Rs.16,000 may be the starting price of the handset. For users in the US, Google may plan to distribute the phones for free. The newly released Nexus 5 is set to release in India with a price of around Rs 28,000

Both the phones look savvy and feature-loaded. Nexus 5 undoubtedly is a powerhouse, but Moto G has great features to offer to users for the price it is being offered at.… Read the rest

iPhone 5C or the Google Nexus 5- Why will be your best bet?

After months of speculations and rumors, Google is all set to grab all the limelight, either in the online domain or physically. It will soon be announcing at least one new brand for the Nexus series, the Nexus 5. The Nexus 5 will be assembled by LG. Needless to say, the Nexus 5 will be replacing the Nexus 4. The Nexus 4 is currently the flagship Nexus device. Once the Nexus 5 is launched, it will be giving stiff competition to the iPhone 5C as well as the iPhone 5S. The launch is expected to happen anytime in 2014.

The iPhone 5C features almost a similar basic design like the iPhone 5.  The iPhone 5C has a 4.0 inch display screen. The iPhone 5C does not feature a glass and aluminum body as seen with all other Apple iphones. Instead, the iPhone 5C embraces a polycarbonate body, which has earlier been exploited by Samsung and other handset manufacturers.

The Google Nexus 4 sports a 1280 x 768 , 4.7-inch display screen. It is expected that Nexus 5’s screen will be bigger than this and also feature higher resolution display. Rumors mills are speculating that the Google Nexus will sport a 4.95-inch full HD display. However, the screen details have not yet been confirmed yet.

By no means, is the Apple iPhone 5C a ‘cheap’ device as claimed by many. It is a myth and Apple had never claimed of introducing a cheap iPhone. It is only faintly cheaper that the premium iPhone 5S, which sports a metal clad body unlike the iPhone 5C.

It is highly likely that the Google Nexus 5 will carry the same price like the introductory price of the Nexus 4. Though the Nexus 5’s release is not yet confirmed,  it will expectedly be launched by November.
